Default NEED CALGUNS ADVICE on AW...

Hi Folks,
I just came back from BIG 5 and they have a CAI Romanian PAR1 rifle for sale in 7.62 x 39R. I have done a search for BIG 5 and PAR1 and came up with nothing notable. I have attached some photos, where am I missing the boat here? As configured is this an AW? Pistol grip, Detachable magazine??? Please help, my head is spinning... I asked the manager if it was an assault weapon, and he said no because it is not "FULLY" automatic...

It is not an AW because it is a pump action, not semi-auto.

Its a pump. Pump actions can have any tactical parts it wants, even poop launcher with a picture of an anti gun politician on it. Its semi auto rifles in California you have to be careful about.

This thread is hilarious.

"Why is the pump action rifle not an 'assault weapon?'"

I also heard that you can put almost anything on the front, including a live weasel and it would still be legal.

Yes, and the weasel can be used as a vertical forward grip. As long as the weasel is not a destructive device, it can be legally mounted. I wouldn't put "mounting a weasel" past too many people on this forum.

Yes, it is a side scope mount.

The PAR-1 rifles are great novetly guns. They are decent...not as accurate as a regular AK because the rear sight is on the top cover (not as rigid as mounted on the front trunion), and is crudly welded on. The barrel is rough, but decent as well. The pump action is surprisingly smooth.

First of all, the Century PAR-1 is not on the "banned by name" list. It is a pump action rifle so it is excempt from classification by SB23 as an AW. You can put as many "evil" features as you like as long as it is kept in a pump action configuration.

$259.00? Hell no! You can get a Saiga for that. I'll give them $150 for it.

If you're looking for a real 100% (well, except 922r parts) Romanian rifle without the receiver being f***ed up like the WASR-10, it's fairly easy to convert these to semi-auto. Heck you could just press out the barrel assembly, measure the length from the face of the chamber to the barrel pin cutout with a caliper, and sort through a few Romie G kit barrels ($50 at Copes IIRC) for one that matches. This will provide for the same headspace. Press the matching barrel in and add some US made parts for 922r, make sure no pistol grip or lock in a 10 round mag. Vola! Romanian FACTORY RECEIVER semi-auto AK for ~$400 +/-

That rifle is only good for the receiver assembly and rear end.

Buy a real gun and try to avoid big 5. There is only a few guns that are decent but you would be better off going to a real gun store or gun show.

But were the receivers made in a Romanian factory that produces rifles for the military?

Thank you for giving us your opinion of the PAR-1. I think I am going to dump my real AK type rifle and get a pump action one instead.
