They are no longer made and haven't been in some time. So... PPT through the marketplace, be prepared to spend some coin

Last edited by jimbo74; 03-01-2018 at 1:52 PM.. Reason: Just looked in the marketplace, quite a few for sale, most complete rifles, but did see a lower for $130 in simi valley

I have one, if the price is right I'll sell it. I bought it as a stripped lower with the intent of building it into a rifle and have not started the project. If your interested send me a PM with an offer.

The cool factor, I understand.

I had a tour of their facility years ago when they were manufacturing lowers for Noveske and saw first hand the great QC practices they employed. A few years after they moved facilities I bought another lower and was very disappointed because it was very apparent that their quality had dropped. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was just after a mad rush on guns due to new pending gun laws.

Good luck finding one, they do come up from time to time.

Actually it was for gifting high end Mountain Bikes and paying off credit cards to Govt employees in return for getting Navy contracts.

They also cut lowers for Colt, Noveske, Spikes and Vltor.

^Like this set^? I waited 6 months for it. No, It's not getting registered nor turned in.

JD had tighter tolerences. I have a few sets here and every one fits tight as a drum, zero wobbles or shift like the rest do. The ano jobs are also very good.

And yes, I always take pride in showing LEO's that San Diego made mark. I tell them it's a "natural born" AR and legal here by birth. I also have Morgan Hill made Franklin's, I like a California made AR, they can't be deported.

I also miss "Bullet", the JD Machine house cat, he was a cool cat.

Thanks you all, I have a Cal gun lower from them years ago and they are very good and I thought about getting another one. Looks like that is history and that was a bit of surprise of them going out of business.

They were Kaiser Defense back in the day. I'm not sure why there was a split but Kaiser is still around in another state.

Amen to this. Support your local businesses. I have two matched lower/upper sets that have the tightest tolerances of all my rifles. Phenomenal QC.

They split because the owner of the Machine Shop Jesse severed ties with Greg Olsen who started the Kaiser defense line and was doing marketing for JD Machine.

Greg Olsen was engaging in unscrupulous business practices and I called him out on it years ago on this very forum.

He went out of state and started his own company he is Shady and I would never give him a penny.

Long story short he sold a bunch of High Standard uppers to SoCal guns in Kearny Mesa and they tried to pass them off as genuine Colt Socom uppers to unsuspecting customers. Until I created an internet nightmare for them by exposing them after walking in and visually inspecting them and finding them to be not Colt or military-spec uppers.

Jesse of JD Machine cut a lot of really quality lowers here in San Diego and supplied a lot of big-name companies his name and reputation should not be associated with Kaiser Defense or Greg Olsen other than his shop cut the original Kaiser lowers which were great quality.

He just made a mistake and hiring an employee with a big ego that had a problem telling the truth and misrepresented product.

I think some of the ex-JD guys are sometimes seen next door at Bitter Brothers. One or two actually ended up working at BB. You local guys can always go there for a beer and reminisce.

I just DROS’d a new JD Machine lower from Ammo Bros in Cerritos for $139. Reading this makes me unsure as to what I’m getting now.

What your getting, especially for $139, is a quality mil-spec lower for a great price 👍🏻

I bought a JD Machine.308 matched set. Turns out the buffer detent hole is a touch too far forward and the buffer was hitting the detent pin. I bough an offset detent pin to fix the issue, but it is disappointing that I spent nearly $700 for an out of spec lower. It runs fine, but i should have had a mil-spec lower.

I doubt I would ever sell it, but I would have to disclose the issue to a buyer and sell at a much lower price. I wanted a San Diego roll mark because I am a
San Diego native.

Thanks. Good to know, I was worried the brand name was just being recycled but built from othersí tooling and machining after reading above about the company being gone. Looking forward to building a 224 Valkyrie with this lower.

I bought a couple oF plain Jane lowered when I seen them for sale at $50 My other JD lowers for sure are good fitting to any mil spec upper. Glad I got them when I did I say they way better than Mega lowers. That's my opinion ok I have one San Diego JD lower and I'm gonna keep it!
I too went through their shop and was totally impressed.

Too bad I can't buy anymore of their "Thank you OBAMA" t-shirts.

Always got good product out of them. I was impressed on the tour when I saw high end lower roll marks like Noveske, Colt Competition, and Spikes. Had one lower made with a custom serial number when my second son was born. Been sitting on it for 10 years. Going to have him build his first rifle with it.
