Not experience but the SSA-E is supposed to provide a tuned but still combat grade non-adjustable alternative to their adjustable DMR (designated marksman's rile) trigger. Their non-adjustable SSA is sold as a combat trigger. The difference is supposed to be the precision of the break. I own a DMR and an early SSA and using the DMR's factory adjustments they are really-really close but if you're building a precision rifle I'd spend the extra $30 or so on the "E". On the other hand the standard SSA is pretty darn good.

I have a SSA, and SSA-E 3g. Both are awesome triggers, I like the E-3g a bit better. Side by side it's not easy to tell them apart.

Did some research on this because I wanted to upgrade to a Geissele trigger and ended up getting the SD-3G.

I own an SSA and have played with a few SSA-Es just the other day. The E is definitely the better trigger, but the regular is still very good. The SSA will have a light first stage, with a slight bit of creep before breaking. The SSA-E in addition to having a lighter second stage, breaks immediately. In hindsight, I probably should have shelled out the extra bucks for the E, but I do still love my SSA.

I have an SSA in my carbine and an SSAE on my SPR. In hindsight, I should've bought another SSAE for my carbine.

SSA - 2 stage trigger with a carrot like break

SSA-E - 2 stage trigger with an icicle like break, lighter pull than the SSA.

Those of you with both prefer the E more?

I think I may try one of the SD line next, I'm diggin the flat trigger.

Have not tried the SSA but I have an SSA-E on my Stag 3g. I have a Timney on my CMMG 308. SSA-E is the best thing since sliced bread. Spend the extra few bucks and you will not regret it. Do it once and do it right...

Default Geissele Choices

I've got SSA-E's on three different rifle length platforms in two calibers. The E goes with an AR rifle like peas and carrots. An absolutely amazing trigger that pays back with increased accuracy and precision aided by the lighter pull weight. The SSA-E is a superb combination with a scoped setup or hunting platform. The break is immediate. The pull weight is below minimum to use for service rifle competition so think SSA or the Geissele Service Rifle Hi Speed if that's your game.

The SSA is also an amazing trigger that is butter smooth through the first stage, albeit with a slightly heavier pull. The second stage is also a bit heavier than the E and travel a bit longer with a very fast break. I have since retrofitted single stage triggers with SSA's on my carbine platforms. I find the SSA-E a bit too light for carbine work.

I've probably installed a dozen or more SSA's for others in their rifles and carbines alike and can attest to the uniform performance.

I prefer the SSA-E over the SSA but only for use in precision rifles. The SSA is better choice for a multi-platform trigger that has to satisfy a wider range of operating conditions. A positive benefit of both is that they don't require any adjustment. Dirt simple.

One thing is certain, Geissele triggers are addictive.

Good luck with your choice.

Rich

I prefer the break of an E over the standard, but you cannot go wrong with either.
I have a SD-E, love the flat trigger bow!!

Read the trigger summary sheet and application guide, it helps sort through the options.

Careful, you buy one, and you will want them all.

Top 3 on my list are the SD-E, High Speed Match, SD-3G

I just got a SSA for my SPR build. I'll chime in once I have some time with it. It seemed like a good choice to start with and go from there.

Going from regular standard triggers to this should give me a good idea of what I need to learn or expect from a higher end trigger and then I can see where any needs or wants are lol.

Just ordered my SSA-E direct also. Still said "in stock" so hopefully it'll get shipped out quick also.

I bought an S3G and tried many of the other G triggers and they have all been disappointments compared to my AR Gold and my JP (installed and fitted by JP).

So no, you will not necessarily want them all. You may even not want any of them.

Fair enough, I speak on this as a G trigger fanboy… I guess my preference for G triggers comes from my liking of 2 stage triggers.

Unfortunately I’ve never has the opportunity to try the AR Gold trigger, I do hear excellent things about it. I may have to seek and try this AR Gold trigger you speak of.

I have had the chance to try the JP trigger on a JP rifle, and it was pretty much the best single stage trigger I’ve tried to date in an AR.
