Default Leading on frame - revolver

I've got a 627V that I shot over the weekend - I used about 50 rounds of hard cast SWC then switched to lead safe FWC for another 150 rounds.

When I was finished and got home I noticed alot of leading on the frame above where the forcing cone and the face of the cylinder are. What is the best way to get this off?

Leave it. That's what they call "the good candy"

That lead buildup will protect your frame from erosion.

My 686's didn't buildup so quickly though - maybe since this is a "tighter" gun?

NORMAL...
fyi...
"soak" the dirty spots in "Kroil", I just use a wet patch...let it sit for an hour or two...
or do what i do, soak the spots in Kroil and put it in a zip lock and throw it in the safe, then get it out in a day or two and wipe the crud off... works great...

you can do the same with the bore, soak it in kroil, let it sit then use a brush and most of the lead will come out, unless the bullets were really soft and the velocity high, then you may need to re-do...

It's the magic lube...
well not like KY magic...but magic different...

If you do clean it, this stuff works wonders.

Lead away cloth.

NOTE: Do NOT use on blued guns; it will remove bluing.

Leave it, clean it, your choice. Won't affect anything but the looks. It won;t build up to the point that the gun becomes non-functional.

Smith's tolerances allow from .007 up to .020 for cylinder gap. Bigger gap, more lead. Some guns will get dirty faster because of this.
