well I shot the contender again today and I belive its is possible to shoot a perfect 250 on this target , Today was not the day for that to happen . conditions were a little to gusty and the best I could manage was a 243 but I did shoot one fantastic group on that target (lower left) very close to the best group I have ever done with this pistol , A pistol is so grip sensitive its unreal , repeating the exact grip is essential

October Rimfire Match
Ok September participation was dismal!! Only 4 targets were posted!
CONGRATULATIONS to: 2 high scores of 247/250 22popnsplat, TC writer next highest 243/250 22popnsplat, and ego 08 Thanx to you 3 for posting the only 4 targets for the month!!! Since it is October, how about some Rimfire Baseball print this target: http://www.protargets.com/targets/dartboard-1.gif iron sights/red dots from 25 yds scopes from 50 yds Any position shoot at slices 1 through 9 only shoot only 3 shots per slice Scoring outer slice = 1 run inner slice = 2 runs final shot at bull = 5 runs RULES -take only 3 shots at each numbered slice (1 through 9) -first shot of each number slice must be made at the outer slice (the part with the number in it) -if first shot is a hit... you may then take a second and third shot at the inner slice of the same number - if the first shot is a miss...you must try to shoot the outside slice again on your second shot -you may not shoot at the inner slice unless you hit the outer slice on shots one or two -if first 2 shots miss, you must shoot final shot at the outer slice Bonus After shooting your 27 shots take one shot at the center circle Tally up your runs Add 5 runs to your tally for a center circle hit. Top Score = 50 runs Post your targets and info Hope this makes sense! Good Luck and have fun!

Did you look at the target?
Think pizza or pie.

I get it.
Each slice is worth 5 pts. 1 pt on the out and 2+2 on the in but you can't shoot at the in unless you get an outside hit first and if that takes 3 shots, then that inning is over and you move on to the next. |

anyone else notice there is two 13's and no 17 on the target. The 13 near the 3 should be a 17. I know it doesn't matter for the match, just figured I would point out the pro target.

does the shot have to be totally inside the the slice ? or does touching the line make it ? I think this one is a little more difficult than it appears .
I hope to get a chance to try it , Lytle creek (westend gun club) has a fire in the area and could possibly close the range for a while and I have a new barrel comming in 300 fire ball that I am anxious to shoot . Last edited by 22popnsplat; 10-03-2009 at 7:13 PM.. |

50 yards... scoped....I score it 47 runs. This was pretty fun! I took 3 targets, I could have done 50/50 if I had taken a little more time...and more targets of course . Last edited by Btango05; 10-20-2009 at 5:27 PM.. |

OK, so this was a humbling experience . . .
Wouldn't you know, the day that I have available to go to the range is the day a high pressure area decides to blow in. Even at 9 in the morning, the range flag was standing straight out cross-range some of the time, hanging straight down some of the time, sometimes the wind was coming straight at me, sometimes the 50 yd flag was blowing one way and the 100 yd flag blowing the other - you get the picture. Usually it is nice and calm up there (Escondido Fish & Game) in the morning, or even all day, but not this time! I gave up waiting for lulls in the wind to make some of my shots - I could have been there all day. So, with two rifles that will both do dime-size groups at 50 yds under good conditions, for the match I was all over the place. That said, it was still a blast! So much different shooting for score instead of just for practice. Thanks for the match. Here are my (loser) results: 1. .22LR Wolf Match Target from a CZ 452 Classic with Simmons 6.5-20X44 scope, Timney trigger (my silhouette rifle), resting on sandbags Score: 39 Note 2 shots in one hole in inside ring of #3 - yes, it really did happen. 2. .17HM2 Hornady from a CZ 452 American with Simmons 6.5-20X44 scope, resting on sandbags Score: 33 (wind worse by now) Last edited by RimfireJim; 10-28-2009 at 11:14 PM.. |

I guess I'm scoped rifle biased when I make these matches up, I never shoot my .22 with irons except for just plinking and blasting with the 10/22 Thompson FunGun which I never shoot seriously.

November RF match
First target for November. Top is 50 and a .674" group size with RWS Match Target and bottom is 50 and a .500" group size with SK Standard Plus. I lost count on this one and actually took a couple extra shots just to be sure. 13 shots I think.
These with My 10/22. 50 yards w/ scope. At Chabot Gun Club in Castro Valley. Picked up the RWS at the old Castro Valley Gun Shop now open as Bullseye. Nice guys there and open on Monday same as the range. They had several brands of 22lr besides the RWS. There should be a bunch of 50's this month. Attachment 36868 Attachment 36869 Hope the pics are not to big. Ed ps: It is a shame to waste so much paper from the 9 ring on out.............LOL Last edited by Calif Mini; 12-20-2009 at 6:42 PM.. |

Nice shootin'!
Folks wanted a target they could see! One could always shoot it off hand, if it seems too easy from the bench, prone or seated positions!

With a new little girl in the house, range time is hard to come by. But then, that target's easy enough that I'll try it with my .177 airgun at 50 yards. Bet I can get them all in the 10...
