Default Cheapest FFL transfers

I live around the SF area but, I wouldn't mind driving a hour out. Anyone got a good place they can recommend on doing a FFL transfer. Cheapest one I found was $70 at MPA looking to see better deals!

MPA is worth the drive IMO, not only because his prices are reasonable, but also due to the fact that he's been great to deal with.

Lee at Tunn Tavern is a table top FFL in Manteca. He only charges $25. Even with the drive your not spending $50 in gas.

The gun range in Sacramento only charges $25, and you can shoot while its in jail. It's a little more than an hour, unless you drive like me lol.

Mpa is good, just barely available, may take 10+ days to pick up.

I'm transferring to sj gun trader currently, $75 + tax.

I recently completed a PPT at J&R despite the shop being an hour away (seller's choice). We were the first ones to arrive and the transfer was processed quickly by two friendly ladies.

I was disappointed to find out that I was charged for a terrible gun lock even though I had multiple locks with me. Prior to picking it up, I tried to ask for store credit since the lock is completely useless to me. The cheap lock was still wrapped and they could have easily taken it back. I have a bin full of high quality locks (OEM, CA approved) and a safe at home. In addition, I had a locking soft case and hard case for transport.

I would have gladly spent the store credit and then some to purchase accessories, but the whole situation left me feeling ripped off so I just left.

It's a real shame since the two ladies and gentleman that helped me at first were really friendly and accommodating. Selection was fairly decent and prices were not too bad for a brick and mortar shop. I even recommended all my friends to check them out after my initial experience.

Dom's Outdoor Outfitters just down the street allows you to bring your own lock. Flat $35 for PPT ($25 dros + $10 per firearm) with no hidden fees/forced lock purchases.

I'm a member at Tracy Rifle Pistol and they always treat me right. Great experience there. Last weekend I was at J&R Sports in Livermore doing a PPT (sellers choice) and everything went great. They let me pay the seller in the store and let me use the lock on the case it came with.

For me, both places were a great experience.

I wanted to clarify- Kevin Smith's charge was $50+dros for nearly 20 years, and it is now $75 + dros. It is not $100 + dros as has been previously reported in this thread.

Yeah, I understand that- I was clarifying that Kevin Smith in Martinez charges $75 for the transfer + DROS. Other people had said his fees were up from $50 + DROS to $100 + DROS, which is inaccurate.

I did a PPT at J&R a couple years back, so this may be irrelevant now, but I had to purchase a lock from them even though there was a lock in the case the gun. If they changed their policy, that's great. I guess it's always good to check before committing to a FFL for PPT.

I've never had a gun shipped from out of state, so I asked at Elite Armory about it. They said they charge a flat fee of $125 + DROS. Is that a rip-off?

That's pricey. There's a plac, guessing it's close to you, that a lot of people mentioned...Mount Pleasant Arms...I think.

At that price it would probably still be cheaper if you drove to Fairfield and did your DROS @ FF Pawn he charges 20.00 plus DROS
