Boe, you'd be better off just using the certificate yourself than trying to trade it.
Have you been to FS before?

So, WineRidgeRV no longer let us keep ammo in the cottages and we're having ammo sent in. We will be flying in late the night before class due to work commitments and the office will likely be closed when we arrive, and would not be open when we have to leave in the morning.

Any suggestions on how to get them ammoes?

"WineRidgeRV no longer let us keep ammo in the cottages" . . . you could leave ammo there before?

Yes, we had them shipped to the office, they would leave them in the cottage on the day we check in. Of course the last time we were at FS was April 2017. If we had known about this policy, we'd stay somewhere else.

Do Best Western or Holiday Inn still accept ammo shipments? We're flying in and out of Vegas. To drive would be a huge time killer. Airline weight limits on ammo carried in luggage makes it impossible to bring enough for class.

Best western accepts delivery. They will have e it at the front counter for you when you check in. Did this in December and will be doing it again come Monday.

Thanks. As my brother is taking the same class with us and he is staying at the BW, I will send our ammo to him instead.

The problem will be in May when we will alone, again staying at the WineRidgeRV. Maybe we'll cancel our reservation for that trip.

Why don't you just get your ammo at the Ammo Bunker at Front Sight? If you are a Ammo Club member, the prices are reasonable plus it also helps Front Sight stay in business.

I'm not a member. I've been off their mailing list for a while now. What does the Ammo Club membership cost?

The ammo club is included in many of the higher memberships and an add-on to others. Many folks, including my self, can offer the add-ons. But it sounds like you aren't a member.

As such, get a membership with the ammo club included or a lower membership and get it added on.

Yup, you can find those memberships pretty cheap or I'm sure someone hear can help you out.
Ammo bunker isn't the cheapest price around but given the convenience factor it's worthwhile

So the Ammo Club is just another level of membership? Or an add-on rider like the FS Hotel or Timeshare? What is the going rate? At the rate we're going to FS, we're probably only go 2-4 times a year.

Again, it is an add-on to some memberships and included in others.

For example, it is included in the Commander membership: https://www.frontsight.com/commander-membership.asp

On the other hand, the Patriot membership does not include it: https://www.frontsight.com/patriot-membership.asp

During FS training. Do people wear it? I assume it not required.

Not required. I don't recall ever seeing anyone wearing one.

Iíve seen some mall ninjas wear them at the biggining of class and by the time the temps went up they were shedding their soaking wet armor and left it off for the remaining days.

This isn't a Tactical Response class so you won't need to worry about people shooting at you.

Yes, wear if Tacticool is what you're going for. If you are going for training, then wear as comfortable clothing , gear as possible. It can get really warm quick and freezing. No point in body armor, unless you shoot really well and have a punch knife...

All joking aside. Train like you fight. How often are you wearing body armor around the house, mow the lawn, hitting up a movie, if you live in CA then body armor is cool all the time.

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

It's not needed.

People used to in the advanced rifle courses. Back in those days, we had a lot more freedom to so things and people got swept occasionally. I ended up with body armor, but those classes were removed before I got out there with it.

About the body armor, no real need and it will probably be too hot. I have been in two classes that a ND but they were following the rules and barrels were facing down range when each occurred.

I noticed a big change in the class prerequisite flow chart as it doesn't look like a DG is required in order to take the Tac pistol class!!! They just don't offer it often enough.

It was Advanced Practical Rifle. It was replaced with Long Gun Tactics. It was a 4 day course and it was awesome. A guy named Kirby ran it and it was probably the best class at FS. After Kirby, Roland Cannon ran it. His class was so much fun and he ran it kind of loosely. So much in fact, he got in trouble for it. A few students emailed Naish and he got demoted as Rangemaster. The advanced rifle curriculum has gone downhill. I don't think FS cares so much as it's primarily a handgun school.

I would recommend staying away from Sellier and Bellot. I know you didn't mention them but if you are price shopping, they are very cheap. I only say that because we (wife and I) went through 2k rounds of it and there were several FTF's. One instructor found several rounds that did not go bang and you could clearly see the pin strikes on the primers but they never discharged.
For range work I love the stuff. My XD 9s eat the stuff up. Iíve been through about 4K of the stuff without a single problem. Armscor was horrible for me at FS in my 92fs

Agree! The FS handgun focus is too evident. His building plans also reflect that handgun bias. Maybe that is where the demand is . I wonder if he still has any space for a canyon shoot type of course.

I missed out on the 4 day Advanced Practical Rifle courses, but I got into the 2 day Adv Practical Rifle. It was fun, but the range was a major limiting factor as you are limited to a flat range, 180 degree shooting. I don't care for shotguns, so no way I can ever get into the Long Gun class...

Are the Ammo Club prices a certain percentage off or are they published somewhere? I'd like to know how they compare to ASW.

Thanks.

I took my 92FS to the 4 day class and the first 2 day skill builder running Rem UMC 115 gr through it. The gun clearing drills are hard for the 92FS and they were designed for a Glock. I've put well over 7K rounds through it and another 3K through my 92G-SD and neither has ever jammed. The 92 doesn't like to drop it's magazine when jammed for a FS drill. For the next 2 day skill builder I took my XD tactical which works a little better in the clearing drills but still not as easy as the Glock. The Glocks have a lot of clearance in the magazine well that most others don't have.

To use the Beretta again I'd have to do something to the magazines to make them easier/faster to remove if I want to DG the class. I've had two range masters look it over and try the drill with it, they had no better luck than I did and told me that I'm screwed on these drills.

Hi,

What type of malfunctions was it? Also, what was it about the XD that made it difficult? Not sure if I understand the mag well part of the equation. (Assuming type 3).

Thanks!

For the day 1 morning intro range lecture, they usually ask a show of hands who is running a 92FS...then they refer to the First Aid box. Lol
