Default How about those Gen 5 Glocks

Well. I bought a G19 gen 5. This was more of an impulse buy. I really didn't have a need or want for it other than ideas of what I would have wanted to do with it. I currently have a gen 3 G19 that's stippled, rmr cut with trigicon rmr on top, zev barrel, milled slide etc etc etc.. I'm happy with what I have now and thinking of selling the Gen 5. I don't see myself selling it for the "$1000" asking price that most calgunner's try to get lol. Then again, maybe I should keep it.

What do you all think?

My biggest gripe with the gen 5 is the take down tabs spring. That part just feels cheap. I like the rest of it from what I've fondled of them.

What is it that makes everyone want one? Of course I mean most Californians. Besides the fact that its off roster, is it really worth the extra $200-$400 that people pay for it?

It's off-Roster and the new hotness.

No fingergrooves is the only feature I like about it.

IMO... It's not worth the extra $200+ that people are asking for.

Gen 1 and Gen 2 are still my favorite Glocks. They have yet to "improve" it with anything that entices me to be interested in the changes. Actually, I think any of the changes were mere sacrifices to "trends" as opposed to actual improvement or meaningful design innovation.

Though the rotating barrel and lug could be interesting innovation worth checking out.

That's on the Glock 46, which has not been imported into the USA.

And you're ok with that grip cutout hitting your fingers each shot?

I like the flared magwell and the trigger feels better. And the slide/barrel fit seems tighter. I'm going to put the FBI contract sights on mine as soon as ebay drops another flash sale.

Havenít shot the thing yet. Just sits in the safe. Iíll either go full custom or sell. Still thinking.

This is the Gen 3 I have now. I like it. Itís currently a HD pistol for my wife. Maybe i can sell this one and customize the Gen 5 so I can be ďcoolĒ because itís a Gen 5

I'm going to have an rmr installed on my gen 5 G17 and run it in uspsa carry optics div. Still using my gen 3 for production class. It still runs better than I do.

Dear god let the flash sale happen soon. I missed the last two 15 off 75. Already have my watch list filled with goodness.

Is this a "for sale" ad wrapped up in a "check out my Glock" thread covered in fail as there are no pics?

If this was a for sale ad i would post it in the marketplace and add pics. The G19 is stock. Nothing you canít see online. Why add a pic? If you really want a pic Iíll be happy to send you one w your username and time/date written on a piece of paper.

Its not, and honestly IMO Gen 4s aren't worth the premium either. I will keep buying gen 3's and put the rest of the money I saved towards ammo.

As for the Gen 5, meh, I'd still say stay Gen3/Gen4. Mac sums up the Gen 5 well IMO, just a rehash of old glock "features" and copying Magpul's orange follower, which may or may not be a joint thing between glock and magpul. Have to give it to Glock's marketing department though, they seem to do a good job at convincing a lot of people minor updates and changes are revolutionary

There's no reason to buy a Gen5 Glock over a Gen3 or 4, unless you don't have that particular model in your collection already. Buying it solely for having the newest version is cool if you are collector, but it doesn't serve a practical purpose imho.

Yes; knew this, just didn't specify; but good to do so for others that may not have heard of it yet. I just assumed.

I really like Glocks and they're my absolute go-to gun for HD/CCW/pocket-gun/trunk-gun/boat-gun/hide-away gun, you name it, since around 1986/87. I cannot say enough good things about Glock and the company, as one of the most practical and reliable guns ever made.

However, it's a lie of the mind to pair the words "Glock" and "collector" in the same sentence, unless we're talking about hoarders that are just as apt to "collect" uniquely shaped specimen of gravel.

The Glock gen 5 bashing will stop when the Gen6 comes out . Then the Gen5 will be proclaimed as the best Glock ever and the Gen 6 bashing will start .

I like my Gen 5 19 and 17. I feel out of the box I don’t have the urge to modify it as much as the gen 3. Trigger feels slightly better stock for stock vs gen 3 with a shorter pull, shorter reset. Almost like it came with a factory “.25 cent trigger job” I’ve always hated finger grooves on any grip weather it’s a pistol or a rifle and have always removed them on gen 3s so that’s a plus.. Texture is good enough for my sweaty hands and I have no urge to stipple it.

Confused as to why they still continue to use the crappy plastic sights (sight picture is fine but they are cheaply made) and will get knocked out if you bump/drop the gun on the sight, shoots identical to any gen glock. New slide finish is super slick feeling.

At the end of the day it’s still a glock and they all shoot the same.

Not too big a fan of the Gen 5, it’s a good gun but I think Glock has gone about as far as they can go innovation wise. Got to love their after market on parts, I can’t think of a pistol that has a better one on the market. If I can think of anything I want to do with a pistol Glock has an aftermarket part for it, and I can do the install myself at my work bench.

From what I read, the change in the rifleing that allows you to use lead or plated bullets is something useful, though 3rd party barrels for the previous generations that can do the same already exist, it's still nice for that niche of people I guess.

They went back to a button cut barrel instead of the hexagon. If you are a cast bullet shooter, that makes the gen 5 better for some of us.
Personally, I don't buy glocks.
