Default WEGC C&R shoot 11-12-17

Getting close to that time again
How about a simple competition this time to spice things up.
Nothing complicated ,
Must be C&R without scope. On paper at 50 yards best five shot group. Many of us are old enough to need glasses and 100 yards with open sights is not possible. I doubt some [ me ] can get on paper at 100 yards. Just show your best shot group of the day at 11 AM and see who did the best.

PS i made a little trophy for our little contests to pass on to the next shoots winner and the last guy to win it KEPT IT . Anybody remember who that was.It has been a long time.

Got the Spanish M1916 Mauser fixed.

Need to test it out.

I'll try to make it if I'm not too destroyed from SD beer week fri/sat. I have a new to me Swedish M38 that I'd love to try out along with bringing the DP28.

Damn, sorry to hear about the trophy. I enjoyed my two times holding on to it

I'm in I got a new Henry rifle for my birthday that I'm bringing. I'll have to figure out which C&R rifle to bring for the competition.

I remember your trophy John, it was last seen at our .22 competition. I can't remember the name of the guy who won but I think I have a picture on my phone from when he won it.

Taking a Ruger black hawk revolver to shoot. It shoots M1 carbine 30 cal ammo. Huge fireball and very loud. The good part is it does not beat you up, light recoil and very accurate. My son in law and 15 year old grandson are also coming.See you their. Is their any interest in a little competition i mentioned at the top post ?.

It opens at 8 am, no rush but most of the tables are already filling up around 9 am if it is a busy day. some go home around 11. a lot of us stay much longer. If you come be sure to seek out the calguns shooters. If you show up and do not introduce yourself nobody will know you came to shoot with us.
WELCOME

I'm up for a little competition. 1 shot each standing at 100 yard steel until eliminated as usual?

I'm in for the competition. James we can do both the 50 and 100 yards. 50 yards is on paper, tightest group presented by 11am wins. 100 yards is shoot steel until you are eliminated.

I like that idea, If i remember correctly the last time we did a 100 yard competition from the bench it went on forever. finally shooting from the standing position ended it . I think both 50 yards on paper and 100 standing is a good idea.

You quickly became a friend! 2-3 people religiously bring steel targets and are kind enough to let 20 shooters hit them. Thank you.

Find me with the DP28, I'll let you dump a mag at your targets

I'll be there

The flintlock front barrel mount plate cracked off, so if I shoot it this month it'll be light (30gr) loads only. I have to weld the thing back on- silver solder failed, and steel bed failed pretty much instantly.

Might wait til Dec to shoot it- it's much more fun with 50-60gr loads!!

50-60 grains of BP? That is a healthy charge! For my ROA I just fill up a 44 magnum case with BP which I think is about 35 grains.

It was a good shoot! I got to try out my Swede M38, it's a sweet shooter.

The DP28 broke again, back to SMG for a second time for pierced primers. It ran well for the first hour. I didn't bring as many guns because I expected to dump a few hundred rounds through it.

It was nice to see the regulars and new people as well.

Default WEGC!

A great day at the range!

I got to finally shoot the Spanish M1916, put 50 rounds down range!

Also shot my Mosin PU sniper. I had installed a shim accurizing kit and it seems to be paying off.

Thanks to all the members of the WEGC for getting us signed in!

Great seeing everyone again. Who won the best group competition? My groups sucked eggs so I didn't even bother submitting mine. It was fun getting to shoot my new Henry rifle and the P14. James' DP28 was fun to watch and shoot.

Thanks Turbota, I'll put it on my calendar. The Enfield is a 1942 Savage. When it came to me the scope, mount, and front scope mounting pad were missing. I hired Matt Thompson of Sinister Arms to install the reproduction parts to get it serviceable again and even in my mediocre hands it is. 1.5-2.0 MOA gun.

There were some larger rocks hiding in the water flow that could easily damage a lower vehicle. Fortunately I had my RAV4 so it was just a bit bumpy when I rolled over them. Nam, did it break the plastic or just knock it up a bit?

just got some nice scuffs on the carbon lip. Avoided going right down the middle since I didn't want to get stranded. Not that big of a deal but I'm gonna check the website before I take that car again lol.

for some reason they re routed the stream. It used to go straight past the path at the end and all you had to do is cross a short section maybe 30 feet. Last winter was the worst i have seen. Maybe a foot deep and pretty fast moving. My RAV 4 still made it.
