I grew up in Modesto, unfortunately I haven't lived there in over 5 years. I just sold my Tactical Sport the other day and picked up this SA. It's in jail right now.

I'm in Modesto! I'm in Modesto!

But there is no way I am getting anywhere close to those. If I see them in person I'm sure I will send mine to CGW to get them worked on and my credit card is still smoking from last years buying spree.

I just emailed CGW. Can you give me a list of what you had done?

What are my grip options? I've heard that any CZ75 grips will fit, and I've heard that the Tac/Sports model is limited on grip choices. I want to replace the crappy factory magwell with a metal one, that is properly blended to the frame.

Not sure exactly, it's been a while. The hardchromed finish still looks excellent after 3 years of alot of use and holstering. Contact the guys at CGW. They are great to work with. The grips and magwell are from a Czechmate. Czusa.com.

By the way..to me, the trigger is perfect. When they sent it to me, David Milam emailed me that this was "the most perfect build theyve have done!"

I put a Flat trigger on the Hardchromed one because it's a SAO range gun. The "black" masterblued one is an occasional carry gun.

Any estimates of what that glossy black finish runs? I noticed on the site it is a "Call for pricing" deal.

I knew your pistol looked familiar!
Fell in love with it back in mid April.
Congrats on the beautiful pistols.

Beautiful guns! I just got my CZ SP01 SAO "pro package" done at a local gun shop.

Minor question, are you able to put the gun on safety with the hammer down? And are you able to thumb forward the hammer without pulling the trigger? I fear my gunsmith had a little too much fun polishing that my sear and hammer engagement is very shallow. I'm able to drop the hammer by pushing on it with my thumb and sometimes dropping the slide will have the hammer follow and drop as well. I don't think thats normal. Thank you in advance,

note: The hammer doesn't go all the way forward to the firing pin. It stops at the "half cocked" position.

rauldelga,

That is NOT normal and INCREDIBLY dangerous.
Your local shop will need to make this right.
If it were me, I'd either fix it myself or send it off to David @ CGW and give the invoice to the shop.
That shop would never touch another firearm of mine.

Good luck with your CZ.
Regards,
Mike

Small world. I live in Manteca and when I do make it to Barnwood it is usually Thursday night or first thing on Saturday when they open. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a shiny CZ. I have two more CZs on order with Barnwood now that I will add to my competition pistol corral after they arrive (building a new L10 gun and a CO pistol for USPSA). Currently shooting my SP01 in Production.

just another reason why you send your gun to CGW rather than have some idiot work on it.

The idiot is blessed by Dave. Ask him where to take a CZ in San Diego and he'll likely mention Honey Badger Firearms (at least that's what I've been told by other customers). I took the gun back, they replaced the hammer and are sending the old one back to CGW. Comparing the old and new hammer, the shelf was machined very shallow on the old hammer.

*I'm being sarcastic, they are not idiots!

Your gunsmith did not to a correct/complete function check before releasing the pistol back to you.

They shoot 1, 2, 5 and a few more rounds as a function check. I also managed to shoot 100 rounds when i first got it. The issue was likely caused by a tight fitting sear/hammer engagement that went wonky after I removed the firing pin block. However Honey Badger said they can't be certain and didn't put blame. They also showed me the hammer hooks were visibly more shallow than a stock CGW hammer and it was an area they do not polish so my initial assumption was wrong. They are sending the hammer back to Dave.

Queue the "leave the gunsmithing to the professionals" crowd

They did an amazing job! They fixed an issue on the spot when it could easily have been my fault in the first place. Amazing people, I am a returning customer and don't plan to send my CZs anywhere else (Dave has a few months queue and i'm an impatient bastard). I am getting a bushing installed in the next few weeks because of their amazing service and would highly recommend them for their work.

Raul what do you gain by putting a barrel bushing on? Does it make the gun a tighter fit thus better accuracy?

https://cajungunworks.com/product/ba...for-sp-01-10x/

CGW 10X barrel bushings for the .550″ diameter heavy barrel SP-01’s – Shadow, SP-01 manual safety and SP-01 Tactical in 9mm and .40 S&W. Also fits 75B in .40. Made from 4140 carbon steel and heat treated to RC 57-59, vastly superior to the loose fitting, soft, non-heat treated OEM bushing. Only works with the standard 4.7″ barrel, will not work with any extended or threaded barrels. Reduces barrel muzzle play to -0- at lock-up. This is a direct replacement for the OEM bushing. Many shooters have verified a significant improvement in accuracy.

Note: Very minor fitting may be required, can be installed in minutes with common tools. Will not work with any threaded or extended barrel.

These are 75 compacts. Look for sku#99021. How do you get one? Like any off roster gun. These are are limited run though. It's basically a compact sp01. All steel, ambi safety, extended beavertail Let me know if I can help

Basically locks the barrel to the same spot when the slide is further down every time not letting the barrel move. The bushing replaces the OEM bushing. As it was described to me, they cold press fit the bushing into place and results show 1.5" groups at 25y? I honestly can't remember, but it was impressive enough to me wanting it. lol

JKust found this.

http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=79600.0

Guy says they went from 2.5 to 1.5 inch groups before and after.

I figured they were off. Dammit. This was definitely the pistol I wanted back before SSE ended, but the only option I could find back then was the Compact L which was way too pricey. Bah. Want!
