I think some might be missing the point.
A grail gun is about the hunt. If it's already in your collection it's not really "the grail" anymore.
If you can go down to Turner's & buy one new it's not really a grail either...

Mark II Gov Target Model.

most accurate gun i have, and something my pops gave me.. has approx 300k rounds through it and still works flawlessly.

i dont care that theres a million of these, this one is mine, and i'll burn the rest before i give this one up.

I feel the same way about my E80's 4" 686. It's the "youngest" of my revolvers but by far the slickest & most accurate.

Not exactly a "grail" but I did hunt & lurk for over a year before finding it. My shoulder is still a little stiff from the wallet fast draw I did when I saw it.

I have several more "practical" handguns, but the king of the hill has to be these two;
Revolver: Freedom Arms Premier-grade 4 3/4" .454 Casull with two extra cylinders for .45 Colt and .45 ACP.
Auto pistol: SIG P210-2 9mm with factory .22lr conversion unit.
Yes, I have owned a Python---6" stainless .357 in the mid-80s---sadly, I sold it in a weak moment.

A newbie on the boards here, but I've always fantasized over a Sig P210.

Mine is a Smolt. Smith and Wesson Model 19 frame mated to a 6" Python barrel finished off with a Satin Nickle finish (looks like stainless) and a duty trigger job. They were made by Cake Davis Co. in Berkeley as they say back in the day.

They also made Cougar's. Ruger frame and Python barrel.

I think some of us were deceived by the thread title: What is the "Holy Grail" of your handgun collection?

If it's about the hunt, my grail gun is a HK Mark 23 (I'd take pottymouth310's or i<3HK's or beetle's).

The 'Holly Grail' for me would be to buy back a gun collection that I sold in '97... Shotguns; several Parkers, L.C Smith, Ithaca, etc... A late 1800's Winchester 348 Magnum. A Colt 6 shooter that was in such excellent condition the guy at the local gun shop said it couldn't be original even though the serial number said it was {& it was}... Mike Weatherby bought them & I'm sure sold them off... A real 'sore' subject for me but maybe it'll help to write about it. These were my grandfathers passed down to my dad & he gave them to me... Fishing equipment also..... thanks for listening.... ... Now my favorite handgun is my AR-15 pistol... What I'd like to have is something full auto like an Uzi 45 cal... Or Glock 18... But not going to happen unless I move out of California!!! Bill

My Will O'Hara built Smith and Wesson 1911.

This was an original bill board model. It's been removed, front strap hand checkered, slide stop pin recessed and beveled, throated, polished feed ramp, S&A magwell installed and blended, complete trigger job to include hammer replacement (3# crisp trigger). Some other stuff I cant recall off the top of my head.

A used wwii colt 1911. Still perfectly functional but just enough wear and scuffs to show that it is a piece of history

Glock 19. Not the custom 1911s I used to own, not much sexy to it or even uncommon. However my 'holy grail' is what I would take to war with me. It's what I train, carry, and defend my life with. And all of that to me is what I consider, 'holy'.

So the 1911 of the Modern Era (Glock) is not eligible to be a Grail gun?

I figured that statement would get a reaction. But give them some time. The 1911 does have 75 years of development on them.

My two favorite and primary handguns are the 1911 and the Glock. The key reason is beautiful simplicity.

All other guns to me are just pigs with lipstick or used for compensating (I'm not talking about the comps at the end of the gun either.
