Default My first build

Long time troller, first time poster.
Like to thank everyone at Calguns for making this happen.
Figured my first post should be a meaningful one.
A pic of my first build, sorry for the bad picture.

Specs:
16" 1x9 Chrome lined Wilson barrel
YHM 12" 4 rail arm guard
YHM Specter gas block (rifle length)
Magpul grip
Magpul CTR stock
Bullet Button (of course)

The rest are standard generic parts.

I did it with just plain hand tools, not even a punch set (I did order one but it didn't show up in time). Easy 1 hour job for a 1st time newbie.

So if I can do it, you can too!

Too bad I can't get my optics in time to make it to the Chabot Tactical Rifle match this weekend

Complete LWRC rifles. Got heads up from LWRC sales that they will no longer mfg. the LWRC logo on their rifles 16 months ago due to the mgmt. changeover. Rifle has been very reliable with not one instance of FTF/FTE and is very accurate at 100 yards.

Old school 3-Gun AR: (setup for an intro to IPSC class I was doing)
Colt lower/JP Grade II (or III) upper
20" SS, 1:9 fluted barrel w/ Recoil Elminator
Sightron 2.5-7x32 SG scope w/ Double Diamond reticle w/ Aimpoint Comp2

My most accurate rifle: (setup for Tactical)
Colt lower w/ upper built by DPMS/JP/Voigt
18" SS, 1:8 barrel w/ JP-BC compensator
Trijicon ACOG TA-01NSN w/ JP-SRTS on the handguard

My plinker rifle, but fun gun: (setup for Open but the upper is here with me with extended rail system)
Cavalry Arms Cav-15 w/ Triangle Shooting Sports upper
16" 1:9 CM barrel w/ Rolling Thunder compensator (THE BEST!)
Trijicon ACOG TA-01 NSN w/ JPoint on an AMS Machine mount (our design)

Wish I had better pictures. Someone else's camera and it sucked.

I'll have more of the toys shot when I get home for the website.

Rich

Thanks. There's a couple more, including a dedicated 22 AR, but don't have pictures of it and the thread is "223" rifles.

Well alright then, here's my new .223 self-loading rifle!
SIG 556 TriRail model with a Trijicon TriPower mounted low.
The mag is a 10/30 and it's fixed with a bullet button which works perfectly thanks to the AR compatible magwell and catch! I was pretty distraught to sell my AR to fund this one, but oh my lord is it awesome. Shoots like a dream and the trigger is pure SIG.

Cool I hope this is not too late...

I am embarrassed to ask, but would Mini-14 qualify? 40 round magazine, barrel mounted laser sight and flashlight, Halo red-green dot sight and 3 point tactical sling

I decided to finally mount my scope on an existing rifle instead of building a new one. This one was my first OLR in early '06...

About time I finally put something up...

This was the pre Christmas configurations:

Top: SU-16 w/ an Eotech

Middle: CMMG lower, RRA 2 stage parts kit, RRA free float ultralight upper, aluminum free float tube, RRA brake, aimpoint on GG&G mount w/ 3x on flip mount running the prototype Range Safe Mag Lock.

Bottom: STAG-15, RRA 2 stage trigger, RSML, RRA 20" Bull Barrel A3 upper, Magpul stock, Leupold 3-9x40 VX-II Riflescope

The middle carbine has been reconfigured recently but that upper is my goto upper and sits on different lowers depending on my whim of the day.

Quick question, Ive discovered the mag lock from this site and noticed everyone using a type of one, how legal does it make the ar, im buying the bullet button and im just wondering if I was to reload a mag off the rifle and then putting it in using the mag lock, bullet button device is that ok to do or do you need to shotgun the rifle open to reload it legally? Ive read a few things about maybe a loophole with using a tool to remove a mag might be ok rather then ejecting it with the release button. Will post my pictures once I receive the BB so I dont offend anyone.

I used to use the Prince50 mag lock but have since gone to the bullet button... Have used it at several ranges without incident. A Cartridge is considered a "tool", thus useable to remove the mag from the rifle. The bullet button makes loading so much easier. If you still don't feel safe, install the Prince 50 and go shooting; however you will soon find out how much of a pain it is to break the rifle open to load rounds, and to keep it open for the range officer to check during cease fire...

Well I was just wondering what other people are doing with at least the bullet button, since that is what I ordered, just was a little confused about removing the empty mag to reload. Thanks for the info.

With a bullet button you can drop the magazine, which is why anyone buys the bullet button and why it made it such a great idea.

The Prince 50 is to be locked at all times in CA. If you go outside CA or remove the evil features just turn the screw and it works like a normal release.

Hey there, are you wondering about the mechanics of how the bullet button works? I guess I misunderstood your original question...

With the bullet button installed, you would use the tip of a cartridge, or screwdriver, or anything that can fit into the hole of the locked button and press, and the mag will drop out of the magwell as normal. Load the mag then reinsert into rifle, close bolt then shoot. You will not need to break the rifle open at all.

Just remember.. with a OLL and with 2 or more evil features and a Bullet Button.. you still must use ONLY 10rnd mags!!!
