Default M&P Shield Pre-order

Is Turners still taking preorders for the M&P Shield for $399.99?

I just called the Pasadena store and the guy told me sometime around the end of the month since the pistol is coming in mid-October.

Update: got a call from Turners about my Shield I had preordered, their s&w rep said they are delaying shipments of the Cali legal shields until December

It's like my MP22 from S&W. Ordered it in early August and now they're telling me end of November. So I went into Turner's and rolled over the payment to lever action rifle instead.

Called up EBR Works and bought a MP22 the next day that they actually had in stock. Can't believe I've been waiting almost 3 months and it's as easy as calling another dealer and getting it the next day.

Call EBR Works, they might be able to get it a little quicker. Great Dealer

I heard S&W isn't going to make a CA version in .40 Cal.

Yeah, there's nothing on the web site about a .40 in the works for CA.

It just just got approved as of 09/10/12.

The model approved is M&P40 Shield SKU 187020 / Stainless Steel; Polymer.

Look at the CA approved roster of handguns.

I preordered as well.. it is very frustrating when other dealers have items in stock and turners does not. Not even a mention of it to customers who have already paid, instead I have to call to find out about the delay vs. them calling customers who have already been charged and informing them of changes to the purchase.

This isn't Turner's fault. And who has these in stock anyway? I've been looking for months!

ikeo What dealers have them in stock? I haven't been able to find one in SoCal. I have one of the 9mm's pre-ordered from Turners but haven't heard anything yet.

I'm eager to see what comes of this .. lots of conflicting info.

S&W web site still says they will be in CA in Nov. and still says nothing about the .40 version.

The posts here say the 9mm has been delayed till Dec.
The CA approved roster show the .40 is approved.

S&W is doing a poor job of keeping us advised of what is really going on.

Anyone have news on the Turner's M&P Shield preorder?

I fully paid for the Shield, but was really hoping to see it in October, but today's the last day.

If it's not here, then can I get a full refund for a gun that's hasn't been delivered as advertise. I might just shell out to get the non-CA Shield if I can find one.

thanks

IIRC their policy says that you can get a full refund since you haven't DROS'd anything. Once you DROS they require a restocking fee.

Thank you.

I would prefer to buy it at Turner's, but would like an honest time of arrival so I could make a decision.

Also wondering if the thumb safety can be moved to the right side, and whether the mag release can be moved over to right side, for left-handed shooters?

Just spoke to a manager at Turner's Fountain Valley.

He said S&W will start producing the Shield in December and expect to receive the Shields in January 2013.

Argh

@keith and Arkin - my apologies, I was not talking about the shield... I had preordered another item and I'm in the same boat.

no and no.

I wanted to switch the mag release but the cutout is different on the right, so it can't be inserted that way... the safety is just a no go all together.

I suppose you could alter/modify/notch the mag release opening and try to make it work, but I wouldn't.

Beginning to seem like it will be 2014 before we can expect to find them on the shelf for the general public. It will take more than 6 months for LGSs to fill backorders

I haven't checked ... are these readily available at most places to be SSEd? Or is there a long wait even for that?

We might as well start a rumor that Glock will have their single stack 9mm model available in 2013. If we spread the rumor enough, maybe Glock will do it

Gosh! Like we all haven't learned our lesson the last time from that KSG debacle.

Keltec is having a major production problem. They are not shipping much firearms at all, let alone KSG which has issues.

http://rivrdog.typepad.com/straight_...c-cnc-inc.html

S&W is going to start manufacture CA version of the Shield this month and is a much larger company than Keltec.

Good things come to those who wait...

i've been looking for a keltec sub2000 and it's almost impossible unless i'm going to pay double plus import fees...

someone should make keltec an offer to buy them out...

Hence no need to throw money out there for something that doesn't exist yet. I don't mind waiting because I don't care to be first one to have it.

Like you said, S&W is a much larger company, so there should be no doubt that they'll eventually deliver. There will be plenty after the first deliveries and maybe even some sales to maintain interest throughout the end of next year.

As a left-handed shooter, and already owner of a few 9mm, including one containing an ambidextrous mag release and thumb safety, which I enjoy, I can not find any justifiable reason for getting one of these, other than to serve as a 'luxury' or 'impulse buy' with an inordinate waiting period.

They were at the Pasadena store last week when I checked in person but I decided to pass because the delivery date was unknown.

Well I just got an email from Turner's head buyer and the word is now we might see them by April. This is complete crap in my opinion and S&W should be ashamed of themselves and their poor customer service. They have introduced and delivered new M&P models since our order has been taken.
