Pledged.

For the record, there is no significant statistical correlation between “assault-weapon” bans and public safety. The conflict here is between public policy and civil rights.

Very important point. The question itself concedes that there is a public safety issue to be balanced against the right.

I assert that there may be an inverse public safety component. Switzerland has almost NO gun crime and every household has a real assault weapon and a cache of ammo.

What's a criminal going do in an environment like that, LOL?

Cool article.

I really do appreciate your approach of guns are not the problem, people are. I have felt this way for a long time. I have lost two close friends to guns (one was a suicide and one was a murder), never once did I think that guns where the cause. If they didn't have guns they would have found some other way.

There has to be a better way to communicate with our legislators on this issue. The whole "no discussion, no debate" approach is completely unacceptable. This may be a way to open some minds to start thinking in a different way about how to prevent gun violence.

I would like to donate but the last thing I want is another Internet account that I will probably only use once. There has to be an easier way. PayPal maybe? Almost Everyone who actively uses the internet has a PayPal acct.

finally remembered to watch this video and it is spot on. the goal of the politicians here is to take away every single firearm in civilian hands. it's no secret that's for sure and a willing media to back them up at every turn.

the reason there is no debate from those like Sen. Yee is that they know that they are wrong and will be beaten to the ground with the facts. but the public and these political slime will not debate it is because they know that they have the media and an uneducated public that refuses to listen. if guns are said to be bad from these people well they must be so take them away. even though the facts and statistics don't add up. that and the democratic party in this state is mostly anti gun and if they are pro gun they lack the ba**s to stand up to their own party.

Doesn't work on the iPad. Do you have a YouTube link? I really want to help, but you need to be more Apple friendly.

Why doesn't the calguns foundation just hit up discovery channel i mean they aired a series on pot. With all there PRO gun shows on I would imagine they would jump at a grassroots movement for firearms owners in a heavily restricted state. Just don't say things like :it ain't Eva been done befo I take it on: or : federal law states that a centerfire rifle must be a minimum oal of 27":

CGF is not a movie producer. Kris is. Channels like DC are the kinds of places this doc may air. You have to make the documentary in order for people to see it. CGF does not have that capability. Kris, an emmy award winning producer does.

Thank you all for the support!

Had a great time today with Dave Kopel of the Independence Institution. Not only is Dave one of the most knowledgeable individuals on guns and the 2nd amendment, he's also great shot.

I agree! Once I get paid, I will be upping my pledge! I also won a set of Tac-Plugs getting the word out on twitter!

Get the word out! Go to your LGS, show them the trailer and let them decide for themselves if they want to donate! Do the same at the range!

i understand that cgf is not a movie production company.but yes but i do feel that the more that there organization gets into the media and not mentioned in articles as a "grassroots movement" the better chances we have in educating, informing people on the bs that ca gun owners and civilians in general have to put up with.

money airtime money this makes up politics and laws getting passed and vetoed.whats the famous saying form the guy in nevada "i've never met a man i couldnt buy".

also i do like where your going with this documentary kris i support on this and thank you for trying to make average joe/janes more aware

We're going to do a theatrical release of the film at film festivals then Southern Oregon Public Television and I will be working to distribute the program via PBS network - there are several ways to do this but we've work with SOPTV with other production and received 5 primetime network airings. That is our goal with Assaulted.

Just wondering, it's either a DVD OR an HD download? Seemed wrong to donate less to get the download so went with the higher one, but when it goes down, is there a way to get one or the other or both?

Thanks for the donation.

Just as a question for interstellar. Have you contacted some of the big youtube gun personalities? People like FPSRussia, Hickkock 45, Iraqveterran888, etc? They get tons of views and could definitely be a good source of interest and maybe funding.

I thought about contacting them myself, but i figured that you would have a much better chance with them given that you actually run the project

Sweet! Because I haven't a BD player. Yet. Sprung for the BD
Word, spread-ed.

I listened to the interview and what I really liked was that the point was made to include the voices on the gun control side. Gunfolk may claim to have logic on our side, but that doesn't mean anything unless we actually listen to what the other side says. This isn't an accusation, as many of us do, but an acknowledgement that no dialogue can ever happen if it's only a monologue.
