Default Whats your latest knife purchase?

I just picked up one of the California Victorinox Classics.

I think I need another one so I can keep one new and carry one.

Emerson Wave. Have a look.
I have two. One BNIB. One is dull as a spoon. If anyone in the San Dimas area wants to sharpen, I'll pay with cash or ammo.

Default Blades

OK ... I did purchase these a few years ago. The top blade is a double handed tjian. I train with this thing. The bottom is a kukri. I purchased the kukri from a Nepalese knife importer. The kukri has a really nice buffalo grip.

Here is a close up of the kukri.

I am not certain why I just bought this thing. It really is cool. It is a Hibben karate fighter knife. I think it was one of those heat-of-the moment things. Plus, my master was selling these things and it just looked too cool to pass up. Hibben makes some very nice knives. I know this thing is the United Cutlery licensed 'knock-off' ... I would very much like to get my hands on a real Hibben with the Kenpo emblem on it. I have heard that those knives are worth a lot of $$$ right now.

SOG Kiku.

Saw it and bought it just because it looked so interesting. No sure if it has any real-world uses.

Just in case anyone is interested. If you wan't to try out a Emerson and mainly the wave feature look into the Kershaw/Emerson collaboration. They are excellently made and can be had at a VERY reasonable price. I have a few and love them. Some even say the fit and finish is actually better than the Emersons.

(note: The knife on the far right is not one of the Kershaw collaboration knives)

These are my favorite two in the line of Kershaw/Emersons.

I got it during the Black Friday sale at KnivesShipFree.com

Unfortunately it is back to its regular price. I think Knifeworks has the cheapest every day price on BRKT. But they don't have much of a handle selection.

The most recent purchase was a package deal and came with a Bark River Bravo 1 LT in CPM3V and a Bark River Necker II in CPM3V. You can get some sweet brand new or very lightly used knives on the Bladeforums.

I just bought a Cold Steel Mackinac folding knife w/ a blade that is 3.5" long.

It's available with a thumb stud; since I make my own I ordered the model with a nail nick.

The Mackinac is a knife of great strength.

Its faux stag scales are made from Delrin which is one of my favorite synthetic materials.

The Mackinac's scales are screwed on so it's easy to replace them with custom scales.

I want to make custom scales for it.

I expect to receive it w/in a week.

Very cool. Thanks! Two great knife companies. I'm guessing Emerson will get bought up by Kershaw.

Edit: I won't buy the $30 hybrid because it's made in China. Shame on Mr. Emerson. I'll keep my USA blade.

If you do not wan't to buy because it is made in China then I respect that.

If you do not wan't to buy because you think quality is not as good then you would be mistaken in this particular case.

Either way its up to you what you want to spend your money on.

It's as interesting looking in-person as it is in the pics. Of course I could not leave it alone so I took it apart and sanded the blade and put it to the polish wheel. Now it looks really cool since stainless steel takes a polish so well.

Took it outside and tried some wood processing with it. Nope, there are far better blade designs for outdoors/camp needs. It is also probably equally inappropriate for animal processing.

But hey, it looks great! Bought it just for the fun of it, and I got what I paid for.

For the 7th day of Hanukkah, my wife got me a Stone River Gear knife with white stag grips to match a set of white stag grips I am going to use on a Colt 1911 build I have planned over the next few days.

Cold Steel knives (at least the blades) come from Asia. Some are definitely Chinese, some Japanese and IIRC some are also Taiwanese.

IMO they definitely make good knives for the money, especially in terms of durability. I'm fortunate enough to live near their headquarters so at least once a year a few of us head out to one of their parking lot sales to pick up some good blades at discount.

Just got a Kershaw Kuro assisted open. It was a gift for my cousin who's in the navy and wanted a cheap EDC. It was 19.97 at good ol walmart.

By the way I actually like the Kershaw assisted more than my benchmade autos. Go figure.

The Griptilians are nice. I had problems with blade centering on every single one I owned though. I'm not a fan of the MAP pricing Benchmade does now either, but it is what it is.
