Default HK Mark 23

HK began releasing a batch of Mark 23's to dealers this past week. As soon as I saw them hitting the shelves I asked my FFL to find me one. He called me today to let me know that his HK rep was able to get one, and I told him I'd take it. I've been wanting to get one for awhile, but HK is so unpredictable on when they release them. So, I had to jump on this opportunity. I was able to get it for $1799 too which is probably the best price you'll be able to find them at. This is going to look good next to the SP5K I just got. I'll post some pictures as soon as I'm able to bring it home.

If you need a non threaded barrel for it lmk. I have a HK MK23 replacement barrel (non serialized) that I had the threads removed from for when I lived in Ca. I have no need for it now and would sell it to you if you want it. Congrats they are amazing guns.

Nice score! I wanted a Mk23 but could never justify the price. I did get what I consider to be the next best thing when I found a USP 45 for $399. Those that have never had the pleasure of shooting one of them really don’t know what they are missing.

excellent choice...congrats! the mk23 is by far my favorite pistol as well as the P7s. btw, your AB date code mark is not a recent release...i believe yours still has the maritime finish which is way better that the new release so you got lucky with this.

Thank you!
This isn't a picture of my gun, just one off the internet for now. Mine is BK, so unfortunately it doesn't have the maritime finish.

I wanted a Mark 23 for a while, saw a few second hand ones but settled for the USP 45 Tacticool. I think it can do almost everything the Mk 23 can. Funny thing is my class 3 dealer called today because my tax stamp finally came in, two days shy of one year.

The pistol in the picture has a threaded barrel. According to this flow chart, it is not CA legal (#16 on the chart).

Am I missing something here? Just curious: Not trying to put anyone on the spot.

One can buy a non threaded barrel for the Mark 23, also, as far as I know (IANAL) possession of a threaded barrel is legal as long as it is not installed.

Congrats sir. Now you have something to scale next to your Desert Eagles lol.

And don’t be shy on shooting anything super hot out of it. It’s the one gun I can count on when I feel the need for speed. 450SMC and occasional 460 Rowland when I get it.

Really saved my behind at Shadow Moses.

^^^pretty cool video...even the music is perfect. in my humble opinion there is no other pistol out there that is built like the mark 23. field strip the firearm and you'll see that every single part of this beast is over engineered. it really needs to be in a class of its own not to mention it's the only offensive pistol ever built. yes the USP tactical can do "almost" everything a mk23 can but its still NO mk23. if you run out of ammo the mk23 is also a boomerang...can the USP tactical do that?

Your understanding is correct. The simple possession of a threaded barrel is not illegal, and there are sources of supply for a non-threaded Mark 23 barrel.

California's Assault Weapon statute does not contain "Constructive Possession" language.

But be aware that if you possess both a Mark 23 and a threaded barrel for it, and where it can be shown that you intend to install the threaded barrel at some future point, then you can be found guilty of the crime of "Attempted Possession of an Assault Weapon" as occurred in the case of People v Nguyen.

I’d love to see you use your MK23 as a boomerang

HK does small periodic runs of them still occasionally. Same with the USP experts and Elites. Theyll just show up for a brief bit then disappear for another year or so.

I doubt it because it isn't on the roster and they usually don't stock off rosters

Only if you are an LEO and have the written authorization of your agency head. Please refer to Penal Code section 30630(b)(1).
