My thoughts as well. The guy should have never gotten in, but then again, its a church so all are welcome in the house of God. The two mistakes are the first guy not reacting to the initial aggression, then taking FOREVER to draw. However impressive the second guys head shot to take out the bad guy.

WRBuchanan Is getting exactly what he wants....

In another 2-4 years he might mature and realize it’s not gear that is relevant
Training makes you a lot better but never forget the 2,000,000 gun uses each year where a homeowner does not fire a shot and has only training from a friend or family member.

Many folks can’t afford a new Glock.

Training is good - I endorse it-

I just can’t help but laugh at many of the WRBuchanan threads that get folks riled up.

Just back from 2-day defensive handgun class and the new EMS Trauma class (additional charge, not covered by any level of membership).

2-day defensive handgun is still a solid foundation for beginners as well as a prerequisite for CCW class (Tuesday morning). I went dry for most of the class because I get bored doing it by the numbers.

At the end of day 2 we went through the handgun exam without timers to give people a taste of what the test was like. Darn it, I wish it had been timed. I'd have been a DG again.

Both nights I attended the EMS Trauma class. I'm an EMT and it gives 4.5 CEs and I thought it would be an interesting class. No, not yet. Eventually I hope they get there but don't waste your time or money right now.

The first night was a lecture by a paramedic who knew his stuff. However it was a briefing on stopping the bleed. No actual hands-on; just lecture.
The 2nd night was a lecture by someone who is in EMT class. Not even passed the NREMT yet. It was supposed to be about respiration/circulation/hypothermia. I should mention at this point that the "class" was an EMT, a physician, an orthopedic surgeon and 2 laypersons.

We were presented with an OPA and NPA and told "use the NPA every time" (wrong) but not told how to use them or contraindications for either. That's just dangerous. The rest of the evening was just as bad. There was no education; just a lecture. I felt like there was no syllabus and it was a meandering walk through a textbook skipping chapter after chapter.
Fortunately the medical professionals kicked in and helped the laypeople with some actual learning so it was not a complete loss.

I love the idea of a Front Sight EMS curriculum and I hope they fix it.

Realize that it is not a Front Sight product offering but provided by a third party group. I too had hoped Front Sight would incorporate a series of such classes rather than having it provided by a third party.

Pandanin, any idea if the docs got CME credits?

Imagine getting a tax deduction for a FS trip LOL
Especially if ammo was needed for the class.

Yes, we all got 4.5 hours on our certs classified as trauma training and they have a Nevada EMS agency number. I'm turning mine into NREMT and the drs were going to claim theirs. No ammo needed for class.

I bought my membership YEARS ago and have never used it especially since I have moved out of state since purchasing it. What are diamond memberships selling for now a days?

There are just too many newer ones that offer more than the diamond, and even those are tough to sell. I would say if you get $100 for your diamond membership, then you’re pretty lucky.

1:00 lined up at Clark County Sheriff's office
3:00 got to the counter and was told they only accepted checks
3:30 went home to get a check, got back in line
5:01 got to the counter, told to come back the next day as they are closed

I bet your UT CCW comes before the one from Clark County. Ours (AZ and UT) did in Washoe.

Got a text asking if I saw the latest email for the good and bad news at front site. Also asked me to subscribe. Anyone have details or is this a play to get me back on the list?

my guess, just another attempt to get to you. I got it too. Lots of folks blocked the emails and the normal phone calls. Now, there are texts from a subscription number, not the regular FS number. Just reply STOP if you don't want the texts.

I opted out of the FS marketing and NRA marketing years ago

Front Sight uses the same marketing as MUlti Level Marketing

It works. They have more students in a month that most places have in 2-3 years.

I joined for the training
I go for the training

I don’t need a text about an exchange of abundance

Default Good News and Bad News

I've been receiving email messages with the same headline. It's a sales pitch for the "Front Sight Constitutional Defender/Coach Certification": send money and you'll receive videos, cap, pin, etc.

The bad news is that the original offer for you to travel around to learn about the Constitution with the "expert" is sold out. The good news is you can buy a video of each session

I was a little pissed off that he is now sending me text message SPAM, but sent the STOP and hope it does. I am more annoyed by the continued "ends at midnight" emails I have been getting since Thanksgiving. All the normal crap about resetting the form but only until midnight tonight. The thing he does not get about bluffing is that sometime you actually have to do what you say to get people to react. Every offer ends up in the "1 more day" category. If it was a drinking game, I would have lost my liver a long time ago....

Is it just me because I have a Director membership or, is Iggy not sending out offers to upgrade your membership?

Do they specifically send membership upgrade offers only to people with low-level memberships? I'm asking because my friends that I gave Patriots to could really use an upgrade and I'm wondering if they should stop filtering his emails in case he actually sends out an offer to upgrade their memberships.

Or, does everyone get the exact same emails all the time?

Don’t worry, I’m a Director and I get mail and phone bombed by Iggy all the time. Check your junk and/or spam folders.

Default How many of you bring spare guns to FS?

Last time when my wife’s gun front sight fiber fell off, we made the mistake of taking the gun to the armorer. Instead of fixing the sight, he didn’t like how light the trigger was and demanded to know which range she was at so he can tell the range master not to let her back in with the gun

The gun is a CZ Shadow SP-01 done by CZ Customs and has been to 12 to 14 FS classes between the two of us. It has a ~2.5 lb trigger.

You guys bring spare guns to FS? Either we do that or bring all my tools to fix the guns myself. Bringing CZ spare parts is a given. We are flying into Vegas, too far to drive.

We have a HG Skill Builder next week and we are taking 5 guns with us. Each one of us will have two, and I bring a self defense one that doubles as a “qualifier” in case someone at weapons check decide our triggers are too light

I think the 4 lb trigger minimum requirement is silly for non beginners.

I always bring parts, tools, and at least two guns along with the associated magazines, holsters, etc.

Given the overhead (travel, time off, hotel, etc), it only makes sense to have a Plan A, a Plan B, and perhaps a Plan C.

Yep always bring an extra pistol for the handgun classes. Rifle class I will usually bring a spare gun as well as a tools, LPK, trigger, and an extra BCG. Probably overkill but I like to go for 4-8 days at a time.

I've found though that the non firearm stuff is just as important. Sun screen, chap stick, water bottle, etc. Not having some of that stuff can make it miserable.

I generally only bring one complete spare even when my wife is also attending.

For rifles I would also have an extra set of common breakables. For an AR-Pattern that would be Firing Pin, Charging Handle and Bolt or Extractor. I've never needed any of them, but I do always bring them.

Frankly, I'm amazed that you've ever managed to get a 2.5 CZ trigger through inspection.

Usually I try to pick an instructor on the weapons inspection table that knows me well and chat him up a bit. Usually when they know you are a good and safe shooter, they often will let things slide a bit. On days I don't see anyone I know well, I get my home defense gun from the car, and shoot it during class. I can always switch guns later.

Headed back out this coming Friday and Saturday. Daughter will be in 2-day handgun and I'll be in 2-day shotgun.

Bringing lunch to enjoy a picnic on the tailgate. Haven't done that with her since she was little. Going to be a great weekend.

Enjoy your time with your baby girl. Time is precious.
