Default Apex pps-43 kits

I am considering purchasing one of the PPs-43 kits (https://www.apexgunparts.com/product...oducts_id/1824). Has anyone here done one of these? Any advice? Specifically on the conversion to semi auto. I saw a reference to a modified bolt that would work with a remington 870 trigger group which is attractive to me execpt it seems a little pricy.

Weaponeer.net has some documentation on these builds. Militarygunsupply.com carries the repair sections. I've done some research and the build does not seem too bad assuming that you have some welding ability. I would look into the Finnish KP-44 too - Same design, but 9mm Luger vs increasingly expensive 7.62 Tokarev.

Unless you just have an intense desire to build one your better off just buying one. They are only 269 at centerfire systems. You'll never build one that cheap, and don't forget most kits are missing the front trunion.

You had my hopes up for a bit as I want one of these too. Unfortunately it lists in bold letters on the bottom of the description, not for sale in California....

That said, IS there a Ca legal version available somewhere?

I know of a good FFL dealer nearby that would probably purchase it, and can make the necessary adjustments to make it legal in PRK. Atlantic is good to go, but I dont think they would do it. I asked for a certain rifle not in their Ca. legal list and it was a no-go. I WILL be getting stuff from them in the near future from their CA legal site, but I assume guns not listed there are not for a reason. The shop near my house had it in stock, and its in "jail" now.
There IS a place in PRK that has, or can order the PPS 43 (supposedly) but there is a thread here on CG that reveals some HUGE issue with the place taking your money, no PPS after a year AND they charged the guy 15% restock claiming they are stuck with the supposed PPS. No names mentioned, but search PPS 43C here, and you will get that shops name. Just wish there was a place that sells it, and better yet, has it in stock. (paging vendors now!)

To keep on track my post was related to buying & finishing the parts kit - not on buying a firearm. I have no interest in buying a PPs-43 - I will either build one, or I will build one of something else.

Is there no one on Calguns that has done this?

I havent done one but I looked into it. You can get 80% receivers and trunions from cold steel solitions. As for how to convert it to SA closed bolt I don't know, lost interest after the numbers got crunched.
