Default SACRAMENTO MONTHLY SHOOT - Sunday Jan 27

Hey all,
We are going to be getting together for our monthly meet @ Sac Valley Shooting Center. This is a monthly event, usually that last Saturday (and sometimes Sunday) of the month.

Take a look here for the info -

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=654215

We also have Sacramento National Holiday Shoots, irregularly scheduled. Look in the Sacramento Chapter thread for that.

I will have a large Calguns sign up so everyone knows where we are this time and hopefully we can put together something extra like a BBQ or small raffle. If you have any ideas for something fun that we can do let us know, we need something to get people's attention so they want to joint the Calguns team!!
how are you guys running it??

are you going to reserve one of the private ranges there soo we dont have to deal with everyone else?

We are working towards a private shoot but it will take a little more coordination on my part for this group to have access to a private range. I just joined the Sac Valley Shooting Center last weekend and I still need to take the safety course they offer on the first and last Saturday of every month. There are a few other requirements we would need to meet but I need to go to the safety meeting to figure it all out.

When we met last weekend there was plenty of space for everyone so don't let the public range scare you away! And remember, this little get together is to help people see Calguns and make them want to check out the site so being in the public area is pretty important for now.

Until we grow and a few of us get safety certified we are just meeting in the public area; either pistol, rifle, rimfire or shotgun.

That reminds me...what does everyone feel like doing this time? Does anyone want to shoot a small rimfire match for fun?

I've got a Rem 597 and a 10/22 that need to be exercised. Just ordered scopes for both, hopefully I will have them ready by then.

Lazyme, let me know when you are going to the safety orientation.

Well, I missed today so I need to go to the next one for sure. Looks like that should fall on the 20th of this month.

Dont get me wrong i love everything about that place but to get away from what people telling me what to do would be a nice little break!

For those of you who are interested in us meeting in the private shooting bays on range 2, in addition to the safety meetings, if you have taken any firearms training classes, including the IDPA Clinic, held in those bays, that qualifies as a substitute for the classes.

After that you can reserve those bays for your own use, but you must have 2 people at all times. You can check the calendar at the Sac Valley web site and reserve the bays there.

Their calendar is a little confusing but first select Range 2 at the top. There are 8 bays available so you will see them listed 2.1 thru 2.8. and are reserved as FD, AM, PM (Full Day, Morning, Afternoon)

You will be required to have a 4:1 ratio of non-member to member on the private ranges. The members take full responsibility for all the shooters on the range, if a guest fouls up the member takes the hit. Everyone that will draw from a holster must have an APR orientation card on them, regardless of the range. No holster work on the public range at all.

If you plan to put on the shoot under the auspices of CGN then you will be required to submit proof of insurance for $1 Million US with Sac Valley listed as named insured. You will not be required to have the 4:1 ratio. A signed range rental and use agreement will be required. Contact Larry or Mike at the range office for more details.

Can I/we shoot my 10/22 or other rimfire rifles in the pistol section? I am going to try shooting some 25 or 50 yard iron sight targets for the monthly rimfire match while I am there.

The rimfire range is on the right side of the public pistol range.

The 100 yard rifle range is on the left side of the public pistol range.

You can even work out some aggression with your HD style shotgun in the center right in front of the office. Just let them know and they'll provide some of the more worn target stands - they frown on you blowing up new ones.

So people can bounce around for one section to another and shoot everything they can carry in, basically all in one place.

Unless you specifically want to shoot some rimfire silhouette targets, there's not any point in going to the rimfire side anymore as they took quite a bit of the reactive targets out. Hopefully they are replacing them?
Just do all center and rimfire shooting on the rifle side No carrying stuff back and forth that way.

I shot this 25 yard iron sight target on Saturday at the Gun Range off of Watt Ave. I used my Ruger 10/22 with Tech-sights. Random ammo, mostly out of a bulk box of Remington. Some groups were hurried some were done right, take a look for yourself.

I will have a stack of these and other rimfire targets for doing a little friendly competition during our shoot. You can find them here... http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/f...play.php?f=165

Pistol, rifle, 25 & 50 yard irons/scoped, and on and on...

Hey all,
We are going to be getting together for our monthly meet @ Sac Valley Shooting Center on Saturday, October 27th, 9:00AM till whenever. We are looking into a lunch somewhere near by but things are slim pickins out in Ione. Any suggestions?

We will be meeting in the public range, look for the large Calguns posters and they will lead the way.

I think a small rimfire match could be fun, take a look at the monthly rimfire shoot here ( http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=626762 ) and let me know if you think you will be interested so I know how many targets to bring.

Like I said, we will have a large Calguns sign up so everyone knows where we are this time. Trying to get a little more organized

If you have any ideas for something fun that we can do let us know, we need something to get people's attention so they want to joint the Calguns team!!

I'll be there, going centerfire, rimfire and some pistols.

Need someone to shoot my 1911 and tell me its the gun and not me. its shooting high and the groups are terrible.

I got a walnut M1 Garand stock and part of the hand guard. Willing to trade it for ar-15 LPK, A2 stock kit or something.

Since there are several people with varied interest, I would expect we'd mingle, then some go here and there and wander in and out of the various 'sub groups'. Some may want to spend most of their time on rimfire, some might spend most of their time on the rifle side and other mainly on the pistol range. Kind of play it by ear.

I'm just guessing .. how did you guys do it last month. I missed that one.

If it isn't the gun, can I still shoot it

It is likely that you're looking over the sight and anticipating the trigger break...it is easy to test...assuming it is from a reputable manufacturer

I was thinking we set up on the pistol side right between the rimfire & pistol sections. I printed 4 large CG posters so maybe we can just have a set area on both sides.

I'll bring my Kimber to add to the fun along with my rimfire. Maybe I'll dig into the back of my safe and pull out a fun rifle....I got some tough descisions to make.

I'm not good with pistols, i maybe have done 200 rounds total. I'm a rifle guy.

Thanks ShooterDK!

I have you on a PM list that I am putting together, I'm glad you can make it!

We have a good list of people and growing! Remember to ask your friends and family to join us and let me know if they can come. I will add + guest and keep track of the head count.

Still trying to decide on a good place to eat after the shooting happens. So far we know there are a couple places near Rancho Murieta. They received OK reviews, nothing to write home about. Mexican place called El Gallo & a Chinese place. Subway & BK also but I think we deserve better.

I will send out a more organized PM with confirmed info this weekend. Stay Tuned!

Tim
