i feel that the factory coating will be more durable as well as the resale market to be more stable with a factory FDE vs DIY cerakote.

Depends entirely on the gun actually. And if its on the roster it has no resale.

Some are 'factory' cerakoted an no more durable than an application from a good painter.

The Sig P320 though, has a folded in FDE frame and a nitron finish which is superior to cerakote by a mile.

Glocks that came in FDE (from Lipsey's at least) have molded FDE frames but cerakoted slides.

Cerakote is still paint and still acts like paint when you scratch or scuff it.

The slides are done by a company contracted by Lipsey's, not Glock. The frame is still (as you already noted) molded with FDE pigment from the factory.
