Default My guns, their ammo?

Want to go shooting w/ some friends, my guns their ammo.

I guess while we're on the subject why don't we cover all the bases?

1) My guns, their ammo

2) My guns my ammo, while I'm present

3) Their guns, their ammo

4) Their guns, my ammo

As long as it's store bought ammo, it shouldn't be a problem.

Mostly yeah. I shoot reloads out of my gun(s); procedurally I wouldn't shoot my reloads out of others' gun(s), or allow them to be shot out of mine when other shooters are involved.

I'd shoot reloads out of my gun, next to a shooter with their ammo and my gun.

How do reloads affect the outcome?

EDIT: How do reloads affect the outcome, besides the liability of a bad reload?

If you trust them, then go for it. It also depends on the gun and load. If you want to shoot my S&W 19 with Unique and 158s we'll talk, but keep the W296 away.

As long as its factory ammunition of a well know brand (CCI, winchester, federal, PMC, etc) I'll let anyone shoot it through my guns. I'll let other people shoot my guns with my reloads. If I am shooting someone elses gun, I'll only use factory ammo. I had S&W j frame blow the cylinder apart and send the top strap into the stratosphere shooting someone elses reloads so I'm a bit gun shy now of non-factory reloads!

So how do reloads affect him on a range day with his friends.

Is the question on ammo, or the legality of the questions stated?

Don't shoot other people's reloads.

Yeah, getting off topic.....

1) My guns, their ammo

2) My guns my ammo, while I'm present

3) Their guns, their ammo

4) Their guns, my ammo

In which scenario am I technically afoul of something, if at all? Not selling, not trading, just having a free-loving range day ::wink wink::

W296/H110 have a tight window but the recipe has been around for decades. What have you seen?

Well, I'm on mobile and didn't realize this was a legal discussion. The search doesn't say which subforum it is.

JTizel, there are plenty of cracked forcing cones and end shake from 1400-1500 fps 125 gr loads. No, it doesn't happen from a cylinder full, but I still keep the heavy stuff for stouter guns.

Here is the relevant section as well as the exemption that would apply. The way I read it is if who ever comes with the ammo leaves with left over ammo (yeah like having left over happens) you'll be fine in any scenario.

30312. (a) (1) Commencing January 1, 2018, the sale of ammunition by any party shall be conducted by or processed through a licensed ammunition vendor.
(c) Subdivisions (a) and (b) shall not apply to the sale, delivery, or transfer of ammunition to any of the following:
(9) A person who purchases or receives ammunition at a target facility holding a business or other regulatory license, provided that the ammunition is at all times kept within the facility’s premises.

Although desert shooting won't probably qualify, but I'd treat it the same way.

Is ammo individually serialized? Does headstamp make/year prove anything? How would LEOs trace the origin of said ammunition to belonging to a specific individual? How would they prove it in a court of law that ammunition is being transferred to others in violation of 30312(a)? All things to consider if you're sharing ammo at the range.

I agree. Good news, this was not my gun nor reloads, but I'm happy to still have all my fingers after lighting off this grenade in my hand. Crappy cell phone pic of 90's film print.

All legal.
You can't leave your guns or ammo with them.
They can't leave their guns or ammo with you.

Technicalities? You go to take a leak, legally you are not in "immediate control" of your guns so it *could* (but would not likely) be charged as an unlawful loan or transfer.

Thanks all. I figure it's unlikely to encounter the perfect storm of circumstances for a breach to occur, just curious exactly where the boundaries lie
