Default A noble idea but....

I think this is long overdue. I haven't seen or heard anything about it and only came across it by happenstance. My concern is the prevailing attitude against Law Enforcement in this State. It makes the vehicle and driver a rolling (or parked) target.

This would publically ID the occupants as LEO or LEO supporters. You hardly see the KMA 628 or KMA 367 plate frames any longer because bad guys figured out what they meant. Now, confidentiality on the tags is the norm and the good guys know when they 28 the plate.

What do you think?

No different than "honoring veterans," plates. You don't have to be a vet to get the plates. The extra fee goes to county veteran offices. Which, is a good thing. This is too.

I have had my vet plates for over 10 yrs and no communist has keyed it...yet.

IDK. The Firefighter, Veteran and now these plates all rightly recognize individuals that do extraordinary things in a day's work but I'd wager that of the three only one would generate scorn and disgust from the general population.

Thank you for your service to our Country.

Understood. Thank you!. It's sad times we live in...where we become targets for showing our support of our hero's (family) who give all for their country and communities.

My family, appreciates YOUR service sir!

Why not, I have a thin blue line flag on my truck. Nobody has vandalized it or said anything negative to me.

Arizona has them and it’s raised thousands of dollars for the “100 Club” which directly benefits fallen officers and firefighters.

Speaking of which, just saw one yesterday right after I saw this thread. What a coincidence.

Arizona however is less libtarded than California is. While it’s a worthy and charitable thing, I wouldn’t advertise anything on my vehicle, especially when the rest of my (unarmed) family shares vehicles.

Let me ask you all this.... do you wear any type of “cop” t-shirts or hats openly out in public? Do you allow your kids to do so? I sure don’t and never will. So why would I wear anything that says “cop” on the backside of my cars and trucks?

I’m a firm believer in staying below the radar and remaining incognito as much as possible.

It’s the same reason why I removed my life membership NRA decals from my trucks years ago. It draws too much attention for that ONE deranged idiot that may have felt I cut him off on the freeway and suddenly comes up with the idea by falsely claiming that I “pointed a gun at him” in an act of road rage. He calls 911, I get stopped and low and behold I have a gun. My life just got more complicated right then. I believe the NRA sticker for the anti 2A crowd or even a Coo memorial license plate might just embolden someone more and then push them over the edge to stiff in a bogus claim like that. Whereas by NOT having the decal or license plate on the car, may not push someone over that proverbial edge.

The above scenario actually happened to a coworker of mine working patrol at the time and while he was off duty. He got prosecuted with the bogus claim, but the jury found him not guilty.

Second, the NRA decal (or even a cop memorial plate) might entice some monster to break into my parked car, hoping to find a weapon.

I also stopped doing the confidentiality license plate thing too. Anybody can find you these days and it’s so stupid easy. Having confidential plates at the smog check/vehicle registration business became too much of a hassle for me and the wife’s car.

...And just because one hasn’t targeted your vehicle now with vandalism, doesn’t mean you won’t be a target later. I wear a seatbelt daily yet haven’t been in a wreck in over two decades. Does that mean I don’t have to wear a seatbelt anylonger?

^^^This^^^

California is a different animal. My truck was egged 3 times in a 2 week period after I put a "Warning - I'm a bitter gun owner clinging to my guns and religion"
decal in the back window before the 2008 election. Funny how so called tolerant liberals are anything but tolerant of views they don't like.

I have vet plates, but will not be getting these. Not worth the risk to my family, anyone who has worn a badge even for a short period of time has been threatened. I see no reason to advertise it on vehicles my wife and kids may be in. Block your plates and donate in other ways.

KMA 628 was LASD’s FCC call sign until the late 80’s when they switched to the 480 band for the mobile digital system and the call sign changed to WII 800.

SCC used to finish all major broadcasts with “Frequency Clear, KMA 628”

KMA 367 was LAPD’s call sign.

We use to joke that KMA meant “Kiss My....”
