You bRing your own steel. I believe the target have to be 42 inches high. I have used static angled steel and swinging ones. You have to set them up at 100 yards on the upper pistol range if you are going to shoot rifles .
If I am wrong , someone will likely chime in.

SBRGC will allow steel on pistol range 2. you can shoot pistol ammo or pistol caliber rifles starting at 25yds. if you are bringing a long pistol caliber rifle, i'd set it up farther out for the higher velocity you're shooting. you can setup the steel at rifle range 3 at 100yds if you want to shoot rifles at it. you can also setup 25yds out for pistol calibers on that range.
there have been times where i've shot steel at pistol range 1. it really depends on the RSO, but these are the official rules on paper. been shooting steel at SBRGC for years since before it was officially allowed. |

Jimi Jah,
You and I must be looking at different areas, or I am misinterpreting something. There is no shooting allowed in the Palomar Mountain area, North of the 76. I am interested in a different area. Because of the Fire Restrictions there really aren't any outdoor space available for casual plinking, but I would like to scout some areas for next season. |

According to the new restrictions issued October 15, we might have to wait until Dec 31. There is a clause that says it may get lifted early, but I’m not going to hold my breath for that, even if the county is underwater

Wow, that was earlier than expected!
Could someone please PM me if you know of a good spot on BLM land that is accessible, but not in BFE? I don't own a truck or a 4x4, but I don't mind a good hike. I'm also from North County if that helps. I am respectful, will pack out more than I pack in and most importantly: won't spill the beans! |
