Kickstarter Update:

T Minus 8

Wow, 24 pledges yesterday with six increase adjustments! Thank you.

Adjusting your pledge is a sure way to help us reach our goal. I know that times are tight and your pledge maybe all you have in your discretionary budget, but if you have a little room, please consider increasing your donation. If everyone doubled their pledge we would be in range to reach our goal.

So, why should you?

Think back to all those documentaries that have sparked debate and changes in our society - Super Size Me, Gas Land, An Inconvenient Truth and so many more. Super Size Me's attack on fat is still rippling throughout the fast-food industry with McDonalds now listing calorie counts on their menu. Gas Land made "fracking" a household word, and love it or hate it, Gore's film solidified the green movement in our country. Films can changes minds in just 90 minutes.

Help me get this film funded and the team and I will create a film that changes how people view gun control, the 2nd Amendment and public safety when it comes to firearms.

Today's numbers 7 AM - 11 PM

11 New Pledges
13 Increased Pledges

Thank you!

Leaving in a few hours for the SAF Gun Rights Policy Conference (thanks to a very generous donor's offline contribution) to film some key interview for the film. Will be blogging on Twitter and Facebook when I can, in addition to popping in here.

Kickstarter Update

T-Minus 6

Arrived in Orlando for the SAF Gun Rights Policy Conference last night. Woke up at 2 AM to start the journey here, so I was wiped out and crashed early. I was nicely awakened by my cell phone pinging the news of a $1,000 donation on top of several other smaller donations and increased pledges that occurred over night.

I'm looking forward to the conference starting tonight. We've secured a conference suite to conduct interviews and have already lined up noted gun rights advocates like Emily MIller, Washington Times, to sit in front of the camera. It should be enlightening.

Kicktraq projections have us finishing at $40K. $25K short of our goal. Now common sense and stats would say, "Nice try, maybe next time", but it's too early to think that way. Donors are starting to increase or double their previous pledges and new pledges are coming in daily. Like I have said in my last two updates, we can reach our goal if everyone just doubled their initial pledge and got a friend to match it. Double and match. That all we need to make this film a reality.

It ain't over until the gun smoke clears.

Kris

I'm trying to see what I can pull together to donate toward this. I've got two young kids, and we're not doing so hot financially. But I want this film made!

I'm also trying to understand how this kickstart thing works. I went on there but still not quite sure.

Could someone explain it a bit to me? From what I've gathered, if the goal of $60k whatever, is reached, that is the only way for Interstellar to get the donations. If we don't reach this goal, then no one has any donation made, and Interstellar gets nothing, and the film will not be made. Am I understanding it correctly?

I don't know how much I can pull together, but I'm trying to get something to go to this cause. It could really be one of those things, that change the minds of the masses. All those people that just believe what the media and anti politicians say. This could open the eyes, and give people the astonishing facts, instead of the distorted, emotional lies.

There has got to be a way for this film to continue if the goal is not met. Perhaps doing kickstart again, with a more modest goal to reach? Possibly, just individual donations without going through the kickstart thing? This film has to be made.

Tried to share to a couple of famous Facebook accounts yesterday and this morning. I wish there was a better avenue to get the word out to some of these celebrities who talk the talk with hopes they might walk the walk too.

It's all or nothing on Kickstarter. Our goal represents 50% of the budget to complete the film but 100% of the initial production costs.

We'll make it if we all "double and match"!

Playing devils advocate here.

Say zero hour approaches and we haven't met our goal on kickstarter. There has to be a way for those who are dedicated to this and want this out there to just give you the money. I mean check money order paypal etc?

There are people who have pledged alot of money to this who have already budgeted it out anyways! Me included. The money is considered spoken for by me already

Project Update #7: T Minus 5, 4

Four and half days left on this campaign and we seem to be stuck at 40%, but I still have hope we can get everyone to double their pledge and get a friend to match it - double and match. We raised $10,000 in first two days of this funding drive, so we still have plenty of time to raise $40,000. Just having everyone double their pledge would allow us to reach our goal and get this film funded.

If we fail, the film won't be available in time for the battles against the AW bans (State and Fed) that will be introduced this winter. That would be a shame, since we have a head start and a chance to change the general public's perception of the 2nd Amendment as a civil right. An opportunity lost...along with our rights and our guns.

Onward!

You won't be charged unless it funds completely. If anyone doesn't believe that we'll make the goal on time, then they have absolutely nothing to lose by pledging. Let's roll.

This is the film every gun owner wishes would be made.

If we don't get funded, it will never get produced. The crew cleared their decks to take on this film and without funding, they will go in search of other projects and we will never get them back.

No funding, no crew, no documentary.

I'm sure the Michael Moores out there are working on their next anti-gun agenda films base on the Aurora shooting to reinforce the public's negative opinion of guns (especially AR type semi-autos). The Yees will win if we don't push back now.

Those interviews are going to move this film from "really good" to "ground-shaking". I've been waiting for something like that before I donate. I was just laid off a couple weeks ago so I'm trying to be extra judicious with my resources. But I'm in for $100. I'll hit the kickstarter when I get home later today.

Kris, thanks for your sacrifice and hard work. I've been watching this thread and the kickstarter develop, I'm extremely pleased that none of my fears have come true, and quite the opposite! You'll have my pledge in 7 or 8 hours.

I have mixed feelings about this.

I believe that California's silly, arbitrary and inane restrictions on guns DO reduce crime in my neighborhood.

I live in NEVADA.

The guys doing this film should mention that the most extreme example of American racism in the last century took place in California, and included a ban on firearms ownership by all members of one ethnic group.

In 1942, over 80,000 American-born citizens and their families -- most of them Californians -- were disarmed, driven from their homes and then put into concentration camps. This was done solely because they were a racial minority which most of the country despised.

Jim Crow isn't just a Southern phenomenon.

Hey Kris, Just finished pledging some cash for you. Question: Have you talked to any firearm manufacturers? It seems like if you get several of them on board, shouldn't be any issue at all in getting the funding to hit the goal??

They are the LAST place to tap for money -- if ONE DOLLAR came from a gunmaker, the hoplophobes would be able to claim that it was a "propaganda piece by the gun companies."

Likewise, taking money from the NRA would be a bad idea. It HAS to be a "grass roots only" effort.

Thanks, man. We won't let you down!

Point well taken gentleman....... That being said, they're are ways around this. Just look at how campaign funding is done in some cases... It would be a great thing if this could be completely funded at a grass roots level. I hope we can get it done.
