Inside, outside...at home or at the range, as long as you post your scores!!

I have been wanting a 44us for a while now. I have had a few slip through my fingers. Show us how she shoots!

And WOW!! Some of these targets make me wish I had more than 25Yards to work with. Nice shooting everyone.

Very Nice!

I couldn't get any more targets cranked out, the light is disappearing too fast!

I think I have a descent 15 & 25 yard pistol offhand target to post somewhere...

My internet is giving me problems tonight. For some reason things are not coming out right...I can fix this later if needed.

15Y Pistol Offhand - 82
25Y Pistol Offhand - 90

Targets for the month. Not posting the 100yd irons as I screwed up and only took 5 shots. You guys did a lot of great shooting this month. Competition is getting really tight. I like that.

25yd Irons, Score - 184
50yd Irons, Score - 107
Mad Minute, Score - 276 (shot with Henry Frontier, got a lot more shots off than last month)
50yd Scope Score - 157
100yd Scope Score-103

No time for the pistola targets.

Default November Rimfire Match

Congrats to the October Winners! results below.

Pistol - Offhand:
15 yd: Sando - 95
25 yd: 10Xhobby - 93

Pistol - Bench
15 yd: Lazyme - 110
25 yd: Lazyme - 110

Rifle: open (blade) sights:
25 yd: mrrabbit - 135
25 yd (mad minute): No targets posted.
50 yd: mrrabbit: 90
100 yd: No targets posted.

Rifle: open (aperture) sights:
25 yd: Cujo - 193
25 yd (mad minute) Izzy43 - 276
50 yd: Cujo - 110
100 yd: No targets posted

Rifle: Scoped:
50 yd: Cujo – 160 (peterabbits with a close second at 159)
100 yd: Izzy43 - 103

Rules:

Following are the classes of Targets.

Pistol: 15 and 25yd . Offhand and bench rest scored separately. Iron sights, red dot or non-magnifed scope. One winner for 15 yd and 25 yd each offhand and bench rest.

Rifle-Iron Sights: 25yd, 50yd and 100yd Aperture Sights only. This class of shooting is determined by the type of rear sight on the rifle. Any type front sight is allowed as long as there is no magnification.

Rifle Iron Sights: 25yd, 50yd and 100yd Open Rear Sight only. This class of shooting is determined by the type of rear sight on the rifle. Open rear sight of the Buckhorn (notched) or similar type only. Any type of front sight is allowed as long as there is no magnification.

Rifle Scoped: 50yd and 100yd (25yd scoped at the Coordinators discretion). No limit on magnification.

This is an online match. Print all targets at 100%. Colored targets may be printed in grayscale to save on color ink, shoot where and when you want. Annotate on the target the Distance, Score and type of sights used (ie. Scope, Aperature, Open, Red Dot). Take a picture of your target(s) and post in this thread for bragging rights!! Flickr.com and Photobucket.com are two websites where you can host you target pictures and link to your post. Match runs from the 1st day of the month until the last day. Shoot as many targets as you want and post up to two targets for each target class.

Note: If the shot is touching the line, it is scored on the higher number.

I encourage meeting up with other match shooters. Any rimfire firearm is eligible. Shooting from a benchrest, prone, sitting, standing, hood of your car, leaning against a tree is acceptable. Using a rest in which the Rifle/Pistol can be locked down is verboten (ie. can't do that).

Bonus Points

Here is how it will work. This is only on targets that have multiple shots on one target We shoot the targets as normal and add up the scores like normal. The twist is we shoot for groups as well. For example, if we are shooting 5 shots on each target. If none of the 5 bullet holes are touching you get no bonus points. If two are touching you get 2 bonus points. If three are touching you get 3 bonus points on up to 5 bonus points for each target.

(Clarification on this rule. The number of shots touching determines the bonus points. There are no additional points for a second group of touching shots. Example: In a five shot group if three shots touch that's 3 bonus points. If the two remaining shots are touching but not touching the 3 shot group there are NO additional points. If two shots are touching and a second group of two shots are touching there are only TWO bonus points)

Finally for any questions just send a PM to the Match Co-ordinator for this month and he/she will get right back to you. Also feel free to send a PM with feedback/complaints/errors. Comments about the matches that are posted within the Match Thread will not be responded to, use PM only. Limit posts in the Match Thread to Target Posts and kudos to other shooters. These matches are based on “Gentlemen's/Ladie's Honor” so go shoot and have fun.

Make sure for each target indicate your total score and if not already indicated on the target note the distance shot and what type of sights. Ex: Score =xxx, Open or Aperture Sights, Scope, Red Dot. No fair shooting iron sight targets with a scope for score.

Looks like Cujo has me beat on the 25Y rifle, very nice shooting, sir! For a second there I thought I squeaked out a win in the rifle category.

I just picked up a Savage 93R17 FV so I am going to really try to get out to 50 & 100 yards in November. I have to see what all this hype about the 17HMR is!!

Nice shooting.

I've always liked the Model 41. Maybe someday.

Lol. Thanks!

All the credit goes to just being lucky. I'm starting to have a tough time seeing the iron sight targets at both 25 and 50 yards!

I really need to work on improving my 50-yard scoped scores for next month.

Thinking with my key board here...when are we all going to get together and do this in person? Pick a weekend and meet in the best location we can think of and see what we can all do under some pressure from our peers.

I know a few of you have campers and will travel for some shootin fun!

So this month I have been testing and learning about my other gun, the AR15. I was able to shoot my first long range silhouette match. Chickens @ 200 meters, Pigs @ 300 meters, Turkeys @ 385 meters and Rams @ 500 meters. I have never shot anything out that far, what a blast I had and met some great shooters, I'm hooked. I shot a 33 / 40 not to bad for the first time. Next match is Nov 16 and I will be there !!

Trip was great. 4,800 miles thru 12 states in 21 days. Disappointment of the trip was not being able to get into the YellowStone National Park. Waited 3 days beyond the closure but decided to give it up. Drove thru 2 (1hour) snow storms pulling our 32 ft fifth wheel. Now that will pucker you up. Of course the best part was returning home. All in all it was a great trip.

Sounds like a great trip izzy!

10xhobby, I'd been meaning to ask you you did at the match, glad you had a good time. Hopefully I'll be able to make one of the matches in Sac soon.

Lazyme, I think that would be a lot of fun! Speaking personally, I would relish the opportunity to meet everyone and hopefully improve my game some through osmosis.

I had hoped to get to shoot one more time with blade sights and the pistol targets as well, Alas, there was dimply too much going on this month. Congrats to all for the quality shooting.

It was definitely not my best effort today even though the conditions were perfect. I figured I should post something for the month anyway:

50-yard scoped: 192

50-yard aperture: 120 (rules on target) or 104 (rules per OP).

25-yard aperture: 164

Unfortunately, we'll be coming back from Evans 6th grade science camp in Sonora so I won't be able to make it. Look for me after the 1st of they year at one though!

I purchased that one from a place called Hughes Precision Products for $6.00 shipped. Here is some more info:

* You can also purchase one from the NRA at (800) 336-7402. The 22LR scoring gauge is item #17230. They also make one for .17 caliber.

Only 1 target to enter; not sure how to score it. Cujo seemed to give 12 pts for the center, but I thought this target was 10. I'll do it both ways, and you can pick whichever is appropriate. If I made any mistakes in scoring, please let me know.

50 yards
Score: 117 or 98
VQ Fusion
un-magnified red dot (Eotech EXPS-2)
.17 hmr Winchester Varmint HV 17gr BT

12 + 12+ 12 + (2 * 9) + 2 = 56 or 10 + 10 + 10 + (2 * 7) + 2 = 46

and

(4 * 12) + 10 + 3 = 61 or (4 * 10) + 9 + 3 = 52

I actually went to the range with my .22 pistol, 22LR rifle, and the 17hmr (hardest part was lugging everything around). I shot every target for this month's competition in each division. Lovely, except I shot them all incorrectly, except this single example If it didn't say, "5 shots per bullseye" right on the frickin' paper I'm sure I would have botched this one, too.
Didn't shoot the 50 or 100 scoped targets enough times. Shot the wrong targets for the pistol. Next time, I print the bloody instructions from the OP.

Still, always fun to get out there

It's been a while since I last posted a target here, but adding rugrat #2 to the family -- and taking up action pistol -- can do that.

I have few illusions about the ultimate success of this 100 yard target in the competition, but because I had a Saturday morning free, I dragged along my Savage Mk II TR to my pistol practice and put some rounds through it for the only the third time this year.

Anyway, here are the particulars:

Savage MK II TR
SK Standard Plus .22LR (same as Wolf Match, I believe)
Millett 4x16 TR-1 optic
Cheap Caldwell bipod, sandsock style rear rest

I got to the range early -- when it was calm -- but foolishly shot the Glock first. By the time I got to the rifle it was a little windy. First target was awful, but this and the third were about the same. A 1.25" group is nothing to get excited about. Maybe next it gets better.

Good luck to all the competitors,
TC

Yes, you are right. The center of the 50-yard irons target is 10 as per the rules in the OP. I'll go back and correct my score.

I got to the range early -- when it was calm -- but foolishly shot the Glock first. By the time I got to the rifle it was a little windy. First target was awful, but this and the third were about the same. A 1.25" group is nothing to get excited about. Maybe next it gets better.

Good luck to all the competitors,
TC

Good shooting. Your score is 113, 110 + 3 shots touching in the lower right of the X circle.

Default November Rimfire match

Here are some targets for the November match that I shot today. Both are Aperture Irons, one at 50 and one at 100 yards.

Default November Submission - Part I

First posting will be for pistol:

Finally found a use for CCI Select. It's supposed to be one of CCI's competition products - but quite frankly - it sucked at 25, 50 and 100 yard rifle.

But, lo and behold, it performs quite well for 15 yard pistol.

The downside?

Some g*dd#mn #ssh&le decided to screw around with my 15 yard pistol targets (three lined up in a row) using 9mm and what I think was .25 ACP.

I was so pissed, I even yelled out: "Whoever the %ssh@le was that shot my targets, shoot your own damn targets!!!"

15 Yard Pistol - Sig Mosquito - Offhand - CCI Select

Score = 65

25 Yard Pistol - Sig Mosquito - Offhand - Federal Game Shok 710

Score = 68

The Federal Game Shok 710 .22LR 1240 fps Copper Plated Lead Round Nose is actually rather accurate for a high velocity round.

=8-)

Default November Submissions - Part II

Now for rifle results...

25 Yard - Savage MKII-F - Open Irons - CCI Standard Velocity

Score = 93 (Submitted under protest - target induces brain artifact)

25 Yard - Henry AR-7 - Arpeture Irons - CCI Standard Velocity

Score = 110 (Submitted under protest - target induces brain artifact)

50 Yard - Savage MKII-F - Open Irons - CCI Standard Velocity

Score = 74

50 Yard - Henry AR-7 - Arpeture Irons - CCI Standard Velocity

Score = 82

Range was shutting down - last firing session starting - I had to run for the 100 yard range area.

Had one minute to zero the Savage MKII-F. Started with 6 notches on the rear - 3 shots - adjusted down to 5 notches. Verified with a few shots on another target. Verified again using another target.

One target left...

Shoot (1 second), Throw Bolt (1 second), Sight (1-2 Seconds), Shoot, n++;

I was working like a madman - and was done with 10 shots under 45 seconds. I didn't bother checking with the spotting scope. I just packed up and threw things in the car waiting for the "cease fire" call.

Result?

100 Yard - Savage MKII-F - Open Irons - Eley Sport

Score = 66

...and I have to say Eley Sport is not bad ammo. Almost as good as its cousin Eley Target that costs .75 more.

That 100 yard "mad" shooting session kinda helped finish the day on a positive note.

Man, you sure have a big problem with other people shooting your targets, what's up with that ???? I know that is really irritating.
