STG 44 22LR range report
Finally got out with this thing. No Military rifle is complete unless it has a
SLING!! Was told historically the German K98 Mauser sling is what was used on the STG,found this one on Ebay for $40 shipped from Germany, there is a good utube video how to rig it. I shot about 400 rds thru this, using federal,Remington Vipers, and a few CCI Stingers. The Stingers have a longer case then other22 and I got some failures to feed. The Vipers and Federal HV were about flawless.I did get a couple initial failures when trying out NEW mags(I have 3),after a few rds they were ok. The rifle is DESIGNED for HV ammo only and is stamped so on it's rcvr. The Utube video I saw on this rifle reported it shot LOW,hence the rear sight had to be pushed way UP to group at 25 yds and beyond. I was PREPARED to file down my FS to get a proper zero but mine was dead on @50 yds requiring no elevation adjustment. The FS is VERY thin at the top and can be a little difficult to see but in all fairness this is NOT a bullseye 22 as it was made as a REPLICA of a WW2 rifle and it has done that job very well. It is all wood and steel except for the rear site and mag. The stock is SQUARE at the top not rounded and I was constantly bumping my headset trying to get a good cheek weld(wearing just plugs would alleviate this) again a function of the rifles originality. Rcvr markings for High Velocity ammo Also note: This thing has a real functioning dust cover and a REAL BHO that doesn't drop the bolt if you pull the mag out! Any questions ask, Pete
