Default Old helmets a club and a canteen. Need help ID

My grandfather os a collector and over the years has passed down some interesting items. Here are a few ones he surprised me with when my mother was visiting him.

I can spot the german helmets especially the one with the swastika. What i am unsure of is the club. He said he got it when he was 14 in a trade so this would have been around the time ww2 ended. Ive never seen anything like it and am wondering the history behind.

He has quite the collection and passes down a helmet or a rifle every couple years. His most fascinating piece is a Japanese helmet circa ww2 with what loosely translates to "dont give up" painted on the front of it. The helmet has a through and through bullet hole. Im guessing from an m1a.

He was a young kid after the war and interested in history so he was able to get his hands on a lot of bring backs.

Any information on these items would be so very much appriciated. If you guys are interested i can get some more photos of some other interesting items!

Thanks for the info. I wonder if it's possible the club could be a ww1 trench melee weapon?

The head Penguin at my Catholic school used that same club to discipline students.

The helmet with the through and through. probably was not done with a M1a as that rifle didn't exist in WW II.

Probably a M1 Garand or 03 A3.

Neat stuff. Hang out with Grandpa and hear the stories.

The mace may very well be a WW1 trench club, used as previous poster hinted for hand to hand in the trenches. This item looks like it was manufactured for that specific purpose versus a piece made in the trenches by the soldiers in there leisure time.

Youre absolutely right. That was a typo on my part. The hole looks like it could have been made by a .30 carbine.

.30 carbine, 30.06 garand or 30.06 03a3 all would make the same size hole. So would a Browning 30 cal machine gun for that matter. No way to know unless you were the guy who put the hole there in the first place.
