How big is that target?

Hell, even if it's the size of a Mack truck, I'm sure that's better shooting than I could pull off. And at 2050 yards...HOLY JEEBUS! That's impressive.

Here is my target from today's practice. I was shooting my R700 by Spartan Precision Rifles. I had five rounds total through the barrel before today (Bartlein 5R). I was shooting Black Hills .308 Match with four month old dope. For the shots at 200 yards I used a rear monopod (ditching that), 425 yard shots were off a barricade using bipod only, 800 yard shots I tested out the monopod again. All other shots were using a bipod and rear bag. With solid dope and handloads this rifle will be a shooter.

The rifle:

Went to get my zero on and I'd say I succeeded. Took a few rounds and no sling. 100 yards. I was using Federal M855 and XM193 ball.

Nice shooting Joe I'm glad the rifle is working out for you. Those groups are tight and they were done with factory ammo at 200 yards! Good trigger pulling on your part for sure.

Please allow me to show off my non-700-based bolt gun!

Howa 1500 action, not trued/blueprinted, but I lapped the bolt lugs
Bell & Carlson stock, skim-bedded with Devcon Steel Putty
Timney trigger, set at ~2.5 lb break
Burris Fullfield II 4.5-14x42 scope
DNZ Game Reaper one-piece scope mount
Harris bipod

Krieger barrel, 24" stainless, #19 contour, fluted, standard 308 chamber, 5R 1-in-12 twist rifling

Shooting conditions:

Feb 12, Chabot Gun Club, 100 yard range, ~70 Degrees F
Warmed-up barrel, bipod prone, rear bag, one shot every 20-30 seconds, 14X scope power

Group on the left:
168 grain Nosler Custom Competition (collet-pulled from other test loads), seated to touch the lands
44.2 grains Radway Green Surplus 4895, trickled via RCBS Chargemaster
Wolf Large Rifle Primer
Black Hills Brass, annealed, full-length sized (.002" chamber clearance), trimmed to 2.010" case length

Group on the right:
Same as the above, except 45.0 grains Vihtavuori N150
YES that is a 3-shot group!
Probably lucky, so I didn't bother to measure it, but it is not much more than one bullet diameter.
I was so pleased with that group, I think I packed up after that.

took out my newly acquired remington 700 sp-tactical in 308. this is my first bolt gun, and first scoped anything. i've only shot one round before with a friendly local range guy who let me shoot his 300rum 700. after that shot i knew i had to have one.

3 shot groups with surplus for zero and general break in

4 shot group with winchester silvertip 150gr from walmart, i was aiming for the bottom circle

i was only shooting at 50yds since i wasn't sure if i could hit the target or not. i'll try some federal smk 168gr next time, and maybe try to find some 175gr surplus and see how that shoots at 100+.

I went to Angeles yesterday with an AR-15 I just built (my first rifle). I'm still working on the sights (should have read the how-to before I went). Since I'm new to this, I'd appreciate any criticism. I think the group was around 2". If I had shot that at 100 yards, would that be considered 'decent'?

6" shoot-n-c target
10 rounds fired
cheap federal AE223
iron sights
50 yards
bench + front shooting bag

Here's the tool:
