Okay thanks Mike... we're working on that redundancy thing, hence my question. Your point is well taken and we've already got some plans for water storage and a foam/gel of some sort. We really just started getting serious about it.

Trust me, I'm not bashing the do it your self style. I just have a tinge of guilt telling others what not to do coming from a former FF. I would totally stay to protect my property. I just am reluctant to advise others to do the same without the same fire technology education I received.

Here's the deal Mike, they charge (and have for years now) a "rural fire fee" on my property even though I have a fire station a couple thousand feet down the road and a hydrant about 80' from the house. In spite of me faithfully paying that stupid extortion fee and of course my property taxes, they decided if the fire came through to let mine burn. Marked it with spray paint they did. From this point on they can kiss my shiny white culo. So, yeah, this is a survival forum and a thread about homebrew fire suppression... and with purchasing some turnouts, working on some foam/gel suppressant, a water storage tank, a pump, some good hose and nozzles... My neighbor and I both have some very basic fire knowledge. Well again, it's a survival forum so I think you can probably guess what I'm going to do if it comes to that point.
