Wes Thompson’s Piru Gun Range
Has anyone been here already? How was it? Is there a parking for our car? How is the road? Can I use a sedan going there or it has to be a truck or a more rugged vehicle? Also can I use shotgun on this gun range?
Hope to hear to all Cal gunners who had experienced shooting here. Thanks in advance. |

Glad to hear that chad. How was the road going there? Do they allow shotguns there? Sorry for the questions, I just got a shotgun a week ago and I'm going to a friends house in santa clarita so I was thinking of paying a visit at this range to test my new gun and since its close enough but I dont know if my car can accomodate a rocky road if ever.

The shotgun area is pretty much limited to shooting directly into a hillside (so not the best) but the rifle and pistol ranges are fantastic. Mike and Herby are stand-up guys and the road is friendly enough for my 2001 Altima so you're good to go.

I was able to pay a visit this afternoon and was greeted by wes thompson itself. It was a good place but they dont have a place to shoot some traps. Shotgun was ok but it's only for targets... No skeet. Good environment! People going out of the range greets us while we drive through the range. Cool place and cool and warm environment.

Wes was a dear friend...his son Mike is a good guy too.
Wes spent many hours teaching me to not jerk my trigger...I always wondered how he could hear a "squib" from a mile away with His hearing as fried as it was lol. |

Went out with my family this weekend. A bit of a treck from Thousand Oaks.
We got there about 3:00, 2 hours till closing. There were 4 of us, and our single 10/22. Price would have been $15 x2 + $10 x2 so 50 bucks to plink a few rounds each. We elected to pass. We got stopped on the way out by a mini-cattle drive, mom and baby cows running everywhere mooing. It was pretty awesome and the kids loved it |

My son and I went for the first time on Saturday. We had a spectacular time. Having the steel targets at all the different distances was a blast. I don't think we put a single hole in our paper targets. Steel Targets out to 1000 yards and every distance in from there was outstanding. Got to put my new Nikon P223 scope through its paces. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. It was so much friendlier than A Place To Shoot or Oaktree. I can't wait to go back.
