Which states allow Non Resident by Mail Permits?
i have been sorting through the rules of each of the states. Started with a bunch of web sites that had at best out of date info, and some just plain wrong.
so i decided to try to figure out which states allow a mail order ccw for non residents who dont have a license in their home state. The only ones i found are: Arizona Florida New Hampshire Utah Virginia If you know of any others let me know and i will update the list (and likely apply). [edit - additional states] Connecticut (may issue, but seems to act like shall issue, only way to carry in that state, but you NEED a CCW from another state before they will even send you the application packet) Maine Last edited by markgca; 04-10-2017 at 7:02 AM.. |

Apparently CT does, although I have't personally looked into it yet.

Yeah, I think Maine is---anyone can carry, no permit required.

Correct. They do still issue permits to residents and non-residents, just like AZ does, for those who may wish to carry in other states that have reciprocity.

Anyone know how picky they are on their "Proof of knowledge of handgun safety"? I was thinking they might accept the Florida training certificate i have which included live fire, but who knows.

Gotcha. If you are not prior military, you could try providing your a copy of your CA Handgun Safety Card....
Or better yet, call and ask....

Connecticut requires the NRA basic pistol course certificate. 7 hours online training and 4 hours at the range. Just did it a couple of weeks ago.
Mailed in my CT non resident application.

I always thought Vermont was the most pro concealed carry state. ( Something like your legal to conceal any gun anywhere *As long as you're not coming to or from a crime (if you do that they throw the book at you) just the way the founding fathers intended it to be.
Maybe that's changed or they just don't have nonresident permits. |

However, 18-20 can carry WITH a permit. Great "starter permit" for the new adults. |
