Trump isn't a conservative. He's a populist. His opinion "evolves" to mirror the popular sentiment of the moment. That said I am extremely disappointed in him, at least in the area of the second amendment.

Bingo.
I dont think Trump has a formulated political ideology instead he has formulated a thorough marketing strategy to peddle products people want to buy.

Agree with My375hp30' above...

Disappointed, angry and saddened that Trump has turned out to be a '2A Relativist' with no firm conviction on the matter. Praising the RINO Gov. Scott and the FL legislation he just signed, banning long gun sales to a sub-category of legal adults is outrageous on many levels and only begs the question: What more will Trump support in the face of an even more heinous future attack? Now when the next incident happens, it will likely only engender additional support from Trump for even more severe gun control laws.

And regardless, both Gov. Scott's action and Trumps support now opens the door farther for the Democrats to 'legitimately' demand even more and more from their 'Republican colleagues' and will garner additional media momentum and propaganda in support of their evil cause and long term objective of Aussie style confiscation.

This is very bad news. Not for this specific FL law (which, yes, may be overturned by the Courts) but what it portends to come on the Federal and state levels. God, especially here in CA now in the wake of the Yountville attack. It's open season on 18,19,20 year old purchasing of firearms and the legal availability of any and all semi-auto handguns or rifles.

I say again: Everyone must ask and answer this question for themselves: 'What is it that you will not do?'

The OP's link says Trump is backing off the age restriction, not supporting it. The Hill is reporting the same thing:

Quote:
White House officials said the administration will establish a federal commission to assess how to best address gun violence in schools, though it will not propose any legislation of its own. The administration will also not push for universal background checks or an increase in the age requirement to purchase a rifle.

Instead, as part of an effort to "harden" American schools, officials said the administration will provide assistance to states to arm teachers, encourage them to pass laws keeping guns away from dangerous individuals and call on Congress to pass legislation strengthening the national background check system.

It was different. Still misleading but that's not your fault. The headline was "Trump is expected to announce blah, blah, blah..... or something to that effect.

I remember that because when I read it, I said to myself "Who expects that? I certainly don't.

Watching Huckabee Sanders right now reiterate this is still something Trump feels strongly about and wants to do, they just want to have "all the pieces together" before they move forward.

It was a set up for the gun control folks, I would not hold my breath waiting for "all the pieces together."

Well I don't believe a single word that comes out of her mouth, nor Trump's. He's also well-known to adopt the opinion of the latest person he talked to. Can't trust any of those two buffoons.
