Anyone work with lucite/acrylic?
I would like to commission a couple of these for my collectable ammo - about 400 rounds all the same caliber
http://www.frinchillucci.com/product...9x19-Gold.html I dont want to pay what amounts to about $500 per - with shipping, etc., Also don't need the hokey .50" handle, lol. Anyone who works with lucite and thinks they can replicate this, without it looking homemade, PM me. Pit.

I got a drill press at work. I could whip something up. Let me check some prices

Ha - yes, I have worked with Lucite, which is why I am asking for someone who is good at it - and will get their holes aligned, cleaned and polished nicely
*The lucite works for my collection because a distinction in type is made for the cupro-nickel bullets and the copper washed version - they represent different batches, even though the headstamps are identical - clear lucite would allow that to be see.

Why Lucite? Sintra is less expensive. I make these all the time in the shop. Comes up to 2" thick. Is it for a range round holder or a case holder? They can be spaced much tighter together. This one is for weighed case separation by 1/10th grain.
BTW.......... Lucite will get scratched all to hell in short order. You want it pretty, or functional?

I'd guess Pitfighter wants it for display
Lexan and plexiglass is cheaper, but scratch easily

Actually, Lexan (Polycarbonate) is the most expensive of the three. One square foot of 1/4" acrylic (plexiglass) is about $3.69. One S/F of 1/4" Polycarb is $5.72 per S/F.
My shop works in all of those substrates on a daily basis.

I just thought of some wood/ lexan concepts that would cost way less if you're not stuck on all acrylic, Pit

I agree. Lucite is a waste of money for that purpose. We use it for push-through CNC characters that are going to be back-lit. It polishes well and accepts translucent films well.

It's a display - for my office.
The rounds will be projectile down - headstamp up, and I want to see the projectile through the lucite as the two finishes - cupri-nickel and copper wash represent different factory batches. Along with primer, and headstamp - the rounds will rarely be removed - if I can see the projectile. I'll look into Plexi, too - not really bothered which material, so long as it looks good and not home made. I use a lot of Lexan on set, for protective use, it is not so cheap, lol. Nice cartridge holder, Latino - thank you! Thanks for the tips, Armistice.
