With the variation in process, requirements, and number of firearms through various counties, confusion should be understandable.

Still, 5 year renewal would be nice.

Easier/quicker access, foam cutouts for organization.

Especially if we're going to have to qualify with all three at every renewal. I only shot 2 at my renewal, and I felt like I was juggling.

Absolutely.

On the live-fire requirement, it will be a bigger impact on us than counties that run private training.
We're stuck with one range that is already overloaded. Counties that accept private training, there are dozens of classrooms and a dozen or so indoor ranges available, plus private training can be on a more flexible timetable... or if one wants to pay extra, personal 1 on 1 training.

The drawback, the county would lose control over curriculum, and there would also be complaints from people who can't pass standards that a private trailer may set that are beyond the current county standards.

Personally, I think anyone carrying a firearm in public should work toward being able to pass the NRA Defensive Handgun class... but I don't feel that it should be a legal or policy requirement for a person to be able to defend themselves.

Modified... dropped the G26 and G36 and added a P380 and G30SF
I was referring to AB-2103 possibly requiring us to requalify every renewal if Brown signs it.

Gottcha...slight confusion when you said you were renewing. I know in SB you only have to go to the range for ADDITIONS.

No recent updates here, only thing I know of is that Brown signed AB2103 on Sept. 26th

Things may starting hopping again when the next renewal letter/info goes out.

I’m taking my renewal paperwork in on Friday, wish they could pass the law for 5 year issuance.

Interested to see how San Bernardino handles the new law, and how far it sets the renewal process back with the new range time requirements.

They may be forced to sanction/accept private instruction... at least for the range qualification for renewals if not classroom and initial applications.
