"From the cheap federal to some of the good stuff"
Can someone please help me understand that phrase? Is all ball ammo considered 'cheap' ammo and HP considered 'good stuff'?
Or is there specific ball ammo that is considered 'good stuff'? With balls running upwards of 0.75 to 0.80 a round for .45 acp, it's getting hard to distiguish what's good or bad by price point. Thanks! |

Because ball ammo tends to go straight through the target, while HP is meant to expand and dump all of it's energy into the target doing as much damage as possible.
Look up fmj(ball) vs. HP(hollowpoint) ballistic gel tests on youtube. The answer will be quite obvious. There is cheap HP, and there is also more expensive ball. Price point doesn't necessarily reflect quality, but better quality ammo tends to cost more. |
