Glock 41 offhand 15 yards USI in Concord today! Couldn't be more pleased. KKM barrel, Dawson sights, 200g. SNS casting LSWC over 4.3g. of Bullseye. Great combo.

Not ashamed to show how much of a n00b I am shooting
Tonight was the first time I took my M&P 9 CORE 5-inch to the range since breaking it out of jail last week. I went to The Gun Range in North Highlands as usual and it was nice and slow so I felt no pressure and took my time. I did not clean it before shooting, but I did put a couple drops of oil on the rails. Shot at 7, 10, and 15 yards. At 7 and 10 yards I shot dirty WOLF military classic and at 15 yards I used Federal Range Target Practice white box. 50 shots each. On the 7yd target, I snuck in some shots with the Shield. Very pleased with the results overall. 20140929_core7yd.jpg 20140929_core10yd.jpg 20140929_core15yd.jpg Clearly I need more practice but it was obvious that the gun is inherently accurate as hell. No optic yet, I am going to keep shooting it on the regular sights for a few months at least. My only other impressions were that when dry firing and comparing to my shield, I thought the triggers felt the same, but when actually firing, the CORE trigger actually feels waaaay waaaay lighter and easier to pull. In dry firing, the CORE trigger feels spongy and kind of awkward, but on the range I didn't notice that at all. I also expected recoil to be a lot more. I always thought my Shield 9mm was fairly soft shooting, but after shooting the CORE, my Shield 9mm seems violent. 20140929_coreshield.jpg |

CZ75B SA 9mm
CZ 75B/SA 9MM with a CGW Race Hammer,, adj. sear, 15lb. hammer spring, full floating trigger pin, Dawson Precision FO front sight, stock rear sight. All internals polished too the max.
These targets are printable targets 4 to a page. The goal is to have 5 shot groups within the center ring from 3 yds. to 10 yds. Each day I go to the range I start with 2 1/2 pages, 10 total targets 5 shots each. When I get 5 shots in the center ring I move the target stand back one yard. These targets did not happen in one day. If I am on it I might get 1 target per week that I would consider a keeper. Average is 30 5 shot groups per week. Next week will be at 7 yards. My loads are the best they can be and so is the gun. The rest is up to me. Some day's are better than others. All shots taken are standing with a two hand grip. The other week I picked up a Shield in 9mm, used but in very good condition from a friend. I took it out for some shooting the other day.
I hung some 2" bulls on the target and ran it to 8 yards out. Below 14 rounds of 115 gr. Win. ball. Here 16 rounds of Win. 124 gr. Win ammo also at 8 yards. Below on the left 5 rounds of Win. 124 gr. NATO ball and on the right 10 rounds of Fed 147 gr. HST. Various rounds below... 115 gr. Blazer ball at 12 yards. tipoc |

Worked on getting used to new bifocals with mid-range lenses on top today, with the help of a Smith 586 and some .38 Special SWC, standing at 15 yards.
Clockwise from top left: started with a squint and single-action, then slowly acclimated and finished with a tighter group in double-action at top right. Had two left over, so I went back to the top left and added the two that touch with single-action. Next time I'll work on those shifts to the right in double-action and left in single. I'm a lefty, so I likely need to get more finger around the trigger in double-action, and less in single. A rifle lane opened up at that point, so I headed on over there to punch some holes in the center target. This S&W 586 is still new to me, but I already feel that it rates as my "if you only had one handgun" choice. With revolvers, I'm more used to a Model 27 6" with a target trigger. This 586 has a 4" barrel and a smooth combat trigger. I like. The middle target was punched by my new and newly sighted-in Remington 700CDL Left Hand in 30-06, from a bench at 100 yards. I can use regular glasses with the scope, but am just now getting used to that cannon so barely got four out of five to touch the X-ring. Not a handgun, but since I used the same target here you go:

Update: I think I am now officially accustomed to the new "competition bifocals", and the newish S&W 586. Best target, 30 seconds, 15 yards, double action, .38 Special LRN. Took a lot of relaxing, breathing, and squeezing. Iron sights r hard!

bullet selection and load development, standing off hand at 25 yards with a 5 pound magnum research BFR in 460 S&W, no scope. 425-500 grain cast lead bullets going 1300-1400 fps. One of those targets might be the 300 grain bullet doing 2000 fps or the 200 grain jacketed bullet going over 2400 fps.
500 grain BPS is middle right, 425 grain RD is middle left next to the barnes bullet. easy to see why the RD punches cleaner holes. 220 grain 45 acp bullet on the far left for size comparison. Last edited by Whiterabbit; 12-29-2014 at 10:05 PM.. |

My Witness 38 Super working up a load. Don't get to shoot it much because finding the brass is hard and replacing isn't as easy as more common cartridges. Trigger is different to what I'm used to but once I found the sweet spot it was nice. I finally got this thing to group with my loads. I want to say over the variety of calibers and handguns I have, this one is one of my favorite. 15 yards standing
15 yards standing. With this particular load, it would hit a bit low. |

Took the Heinie/Dawson combo off the P320 (just couldn't get it to zero, and didn't want to pay a premium to have Dawson make me the necessary height front post) and put the SigLites back on... and, now that they're actually centered, they're hitting right on point. First mag tonight of 124gr Freedom HP Reman - high shot was the first shot.

I decided to shoot the P320 weak-handed for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised that I was able to keep it in the black. Ten at seven. Definitely need to practice shooting left-handed more often. |

Wow! Impressive shooting in this bunch... I'm almost ashamed to include my pictures
Top target is my shield and bottom my SP2022 both in 9mm @ 7.5 yards Then I got out my P220 and shot again from 7.5 yards. Top target is using both hands, bottom target is one handed (strong and weak hand)

I've been in US for 2 weeks on a business trip and went to Riverside shooting range. Borrowed a glock 17 and few targets.
First is mostly from 20m Second is different ranges from 5 to 15 And Last one is about 5 to 6m. 4 rounds loaded and shoot as quickly as possible going from tope left to bottom right target. Than new mag with 4 rounds and repeated this 5 times. |
