Have a question:

I visit frequently the area of Fort Mohave, bull head as we do boating and my in laws have a vacation home there. Very close to there and sometimes without knowing, we cross into Tribal lands. (On the 95 after Needles, you have to drive through tribal land).

Last year I asked if they honor the constitutional carry and the tribal police chief I spoke with said "NO".

Heres what they posted on a search I found: *See bold and underlined below. Does this mean a CCW permit is such documents issued?

Quote:
Section 345. Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
5
www.handgunlaw.us
A person commits the offense of carrying a concealed weapon if, without legal justification, or lawful authority as hereinafter provided, he knowingly carries concealed on or about his person a knife, firearm, or other dangerous weapon as hereinafter defined.
a. It shall be an affirmative defense that the accused was:
(1) Lawfully authorized to carry such knife, firearm or other dangerous weapon concealed on or about his person, which lawful authority shall be by permit issued by the Tribal Council or such other authority designated by it, or by written permit or other authority of the United States;
(2) A Police or other law enforcement officer of the Tribes or the United State acting in the performance of his official duties; or
(3) Was in this own dwelling, or place of business, or on property owned or under his control at the time of the act of carrying; or
(4) Was in a private automobile or other means of conveyance and was carrying the weapon therein for lawful protection of his or another permit or property while traveling.
Thank you,

Thank you,

This may be best answered by getting the local law enforcement entity to address the issue in writing. Did you speak with chief of police Armstrong? His contact info is located at: http://www.crit-nsn.gov/critpolice/

A quick note explaining how much you like/frequent the area and you just want to confirm that your CCW under these provisions will be honored will get you the answer. Make it an affirmative "just want to make sure we're good" kind of note. If he says, no, then he can also offer a reason.

Good luck.

If you are going to Phoenix you can carry. Az itself is constitutional carry. The main advantage for us california folks is to be able to visit more states than our ccw allows.

What class did you guys take? I'm looking for one in san diego, and the few that I have come up with seem to be way overpriced. I see some of you taking an NRA class, is that cheaper? If so, where can I attend one?

Gotta admit, quicker than I expected with the "rush" I imagine is going in. Was a easy process overall. So with my ca and now az I'm all set for all the states I visit.

It seems like the turn around is averaging about 6 and a half weeks right now? I'll be sending in my apps in late March on my birthday, hopefully things get better by then.

I've heard that if are turned down, you'll have to put that on ever CCW application going forward. From what I understand it is better to wait for Contra Costa count to change their policy. But hey, you just might get approved if you have,"good cause" that is stronger than the need to protect yourself or your family. I for one think there can be no stronger cause then protection of life, CCC doesn't feel that way

We're getting off topic. This is for timelines for the Arizona license only.

My non-Resident application for AZ was sent 3/13/13.
I'm wondering if I'll get it before I get my Sac County permit? I guess we'll see.

They received my app on Jan 22 and I received the license on Mar 23.

As we know, the value decreased substantially during the delay.

Just received an update this morning.

AZDPS is currently processing applications received in their unit on Feb 13. I guess I can expect mine around the end of April.

Is the phone number to check on the status automated? I tried the 800 number on the DPS website and there was no answer, maybe because it was after hours.
