Lightbulb FALCON IMMEDIATE ACTION MEDICAL - JULY 31, 2011 H.B.

This course is designed to teach you the basics, a foundation to Immediate Action Medical Treatment. You will be issued a “Blow Out Kit” containing the required items to sustain life during life threatening emergencies to include airway management, hemorrhaging / bleeding control, Pneumothorax, c-spine precautions, proper movement of a man down, tactical mindset considerations. Additionally, the course covers American Heart Associate CPR/AED/First Aid and we issue you your provider card. Well worth your time & money for both the CPR and gunshot wounds. Price includes a well-thought out medical kit.

You'll find AARs from the last two such Immediate Action Medical classes in the links below:

FALCON Immediate Action Medical - HB Hilton May 15, 2011

AAR: Falcon Tactical Medical

Press Check and I will be there.

Can someone post some photos of the blow out kit that is included with the course?

Sounds like a great class.

I think Ninja will attend as well.

Ram,

Thank you for taking the time to post the F.V.O.K. (FALCON Ventilated Operator Kit). Just incase anyone wants to know, the contents of this kit (specific contents) is not found on another website or with another company. The reason this kit was put together was based off the requirements that we had for our team members overseas as the basic blow out kit.

The theory is simple. The medic carry's a bag that has enough stuff for X number of guys. But, the medic is going to utilize the kit that is on the team member first for that person who is injured. Thus, allowing for the progression of self aid, buddy aid, medic aid and finally advance medical care via a hospital setting.

We here at FALCON believe that the fundamentals are a perishable skill and dry fire practice is very important. But, what happens when the un-thinkable takes place. Are you prepared? Do you have the proper training, equipment and plan put into place in the event something goes wrong? When you are at the range with some buddies or at a formal training class is there a plan? Be it planned or hasty you must have a plan in place to execute when the need arrises.

The weather is warm right now, so this is the perfect opportunity for all of you that have not had a formal training course on immediate action medical or CPR to spend the day at one of the nicest hotels on the beach for training and getting your MED ON!!!

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible. We limit the course to 16 students because of AHA CPR requirements as well as training aids via student to instructor ratio. The sooner you register the better. We will close the course 1 week prior and yes, there are plenty of slots right now.

Stay safe,

FALCON

PS - did we mention the brunch at the hotel is awesome!!!

Upon checking Falcon's schedule for the rest of this year, the July 31st class is the last Tac Med this year! Don't pass up the opportunity for this very necessary class as Voodoo mentioned. Also, read the very pertinent article from The Washington Post: First-aid kits credited with saving lives in Tucson shooting.

I will be there for sure. As mentioned by Ram they do not hold this class very often so it is quite an opportunity if you are able to attend.

Plus it's held at the Hilton in HB right on the coast in beautiful Surf City, California. The CPR certification and included Blowout Kit are two more great reasons to attend. Not to mention the invaluable and potentially life saving knowledge that I hope to gain from this course. And a tasty brunch to top it off.

As a father and as a shooter I have a lot to gain from this course. I am looking forward to it very much.

See you guys there!

Valet parking only and costs $24 at that hotel. I hope we can park off location and walk in.

As of May 2011, by dining at their restaurant (you don't have to go with the $40 Sunday brunch) valet parking was free. You should confirm:

Good luck. The street parking is probably metered and over a dollar an hour these days. Plus if you are short on quarters and you get a ticket it will be even more. I have never seen $24 for Valet before, that is outrageous.

I guess I am going to skydive in with Piya and Mark. Parachute landing on the roof, and fast rope down the side of the building. That's how the cool guys do it!

Worst case scenario we can park in a nearby residential area maybe, and drive in together in one car + split up the valet cost accordingly.

I don't trust Valet guys anyhow. I would rather hand my dollar bills to strippers. Better return on your investment in my opinion. But that's just me.

Yup! HB does not discriminate on what days to make money of tourists going to the most famous beach in California. Those meters are like slot machines that never pay out, just take take take.

I would be very surprised if they did not meter on Sundays.

It says on the hotel website that valet is $24. It looks like carpooling and splitting up the valet might be the way to go.

I personally trained BHO on covert infiltration techniques... I bet you guys didn't know he led the Gold Team on Op Neptune's Spear. During his 2 May 2011 press conference as CinC you would have thought he planned the op, too!

Ummm, my wife (who works in the surfing industry) just made me aware that the US Open of Surfing is being held July 30th - August 7th at the HB Pier.

There will be over 500,000 spectators in the area for this event! Parking will be a nightmare to say the least.

PM'ing Falcon now to notify Voodoo.

Well I will say if this course is not full yet it should be. All CALGuNers shoul attend this course. It is a great course and a great blow out kit. As a Doc myself I preach self aid, buddy aid, medic aid. This course will provide you with all the needed info to take care of yourself or a buddy if an accident happens on the range. Another thing that people don't think about is the aftermath of a shoot out with a bad guy. You must be able to stop the bleeding and keep them breathing until more definative medical care can arrive.

I vet, Falcon Security after working with and teaching a class with "V". Great instructor, medic, and operator.

Today President Obama awarded Army Sgt. 1st Class Leroy Arthur Petry with the Medal of Honor at a White House ceremony.

Read below on how he saved the lives of others as well as his own:

Quote:
Another enemy grenade landed near the wounded men. Petry grabbed the grenade and threw it away from the other soldiers. As the grenade detonated, Petry’s hand was lost. He put a tourniquet on his own arm and called on the radio to report what happened.
Enough said.

DOC - first off, thank you for the kind words as I greatly appreciate it.

BB- I am working with our gear manufacture now to supply us the blow out kit bags we designed that are on our vest/kits. These will be TAN not OD so I hope that is OK.

JR - I am looking into the Hilton and the issues this may have with the OPO Pro but, knowing how they take care of us there and all the money that I spent (meaning weeks to months at a time on rotation from Iraq) then we should be G2G. But, I will check tomorrow and update here.

I will also address the parking issue to see if we can get it comped. The last few times so long as we where there for a meeting and ate there as well the parking was free. But, again, I will double check.

As a medic who is passionate about know what to do when keeping it real goes wrong, I am glad to see such a positive interest and response as well as support from other members of this site. Its kind of a long day but we try to make it fun, light more than worth your while.

Again, thank you all who have made positive comments and are planning on attending. I will update via here tomorrow on the specifics.

Stay safe, stay focused.

VooDoo

PS- BB, I am going to keep you wondering about the whole B.F. This Party Thing!!! lol

The US Open of Surfing will be going on from July 30 -Aug 7 at HB.

Here is a pic from last years event to get an idea of what parking will be like during the day of the Med Course. My suggestion is get there early.

Voodoo is working his magic for us and will update what he finds out as far as parking and accommodations for the Med Course. Thanks Voodoo!

On the plus side, more than half that crowd is hot chicks in bikinis. Ahhhh Yeahhh. (Don't forget your mirrored lens sunglasses for covert observations)

Lets' BF that party too !!!!
