Default Fixed Mag Solutions - Best Solutions? Any Deals?

With the imminent AR registration deadline, anyone have recommendations for the fixed mag (versus featureless) solution and any deals related to that?

compmag seems to be a popular solution. I just bought the ar maglock when they had it on sale for memorial, haven't tried it out. I'm thinking of grabbing the compmag so I can see which I like, featureless, compmag, or maglock

Despite the company’s questionable (bad) actions toward others, their Gen 2 with Kingpin is truly amazing.

I didn't hear about that one yet. Good to know. Here are some other options if not sales.

I'm looking for a few places to order an armaglock. If nothing surfaces in this thread, I'll probably start calling local stores

If you go with a bolt catch system, go with one of these so you don’t have to punch out the roll pin when you go to a free state.

I was a click away from getting it until I saw the companyís official video on how to clear a jam. Says you need 2 people, which is ridiculous.

AR Maglock with Kingpin is absurdly expensive. It works and you can swap mags quickly, but it's ridiculously expensive. The JT Hellfighter kit (with its own limitations) is less than half the price. Turners has them in stock all over as well, so you aren't forced to pay shipping from armaglock's webstore. That is my next compliance device to try. The JT modified bolt catch/mag-release-blocker (well it's designed to not catch the bolt, so I'm not sure what to call it anymore) will force you to re-learn how to manipulate your weapon system since your LRBHO no longer exists.

My AR-15 came with an armaglock with just a regular extended takedown pin, it works but I just use the BF-10 to reload instead of opening the action.
I installed an FC-Hook on my other ar-15 and I prefer it over the armaglock. I also generally use the BF-10 to reload this one as well.

I have yet to have to clear any malfs out of either system, so that's another aspect to consider. One of the benefits of the FC-Hook, is that if you don't firmly seat the mag release tab so the pin opens to the inside of the magwell, it operates like a normal mag release and you can run it if you drive to AR-izona or another free state. You could also potentially switch between a fixed mag and featureless set-up while still having the FC-Hook installed.

that is why im running AR maglock in conjuction with JT button and tossed the JT mag locking device. AR Maglock still allows for bolt hold open

Kingpin seems like the way to go. If only they could start selling it on their own instead of bundling it with the overpriced AR Maglock.

Leaving California is the best mod you can do to your AR! In a couple days it will be 3 months I left. Couldn’t be happier.

My winning combo:

1. If I'm running a finished 80% lower, I like the Hogue Freedom Fighter Kit, but you need to drill into your lower which isn't great, unless it's a finished 80 and you've already done more than drilling. Combo that with a Battle Arms Development rear pin that only lets the rear of the upper tilt forward enough to release the maglock.

2. If I'm running a purchased lower, 33.3 Calcatch does a great job (but isn't cheap). If you get the "Unmodified" version, you still keep your last round bolt hold open, which I like to keep. That with the same Battle Arms rear pin works great....or get the KE Arms one, or buy the Hellfighter kit and just buy the rear pin.

I won't buy ARMaglocks because i hate them, Patriot Pins because I don't like how it gets in the way of the ejection port door cover, and any other mag button replacement.

Letting me use a milspec mag drop button is a desire of mine, may not be yours, but the issue I run into is my rifles look like Assault Weapons, until I actually actuate the magazine release with the upper popped, then they finally believe me and leave me alone (looking at you RSOs).
