We've been asking for feedback on a potential new product we could develop to meet the 3.7oz requirement. A couple options being considered are a stainless grip insert that embeds with epoxy into the grip cavity (on smaller glocks like the SS80 it needs to come outside the grip and function like a magwell, but on the G17 and 19 it would look like one of those grip plugs)

The other option is a front picatinny rail mounted plate (epoxied). We could offer a smooth version, a version that has a rail (basically a riser made from stainless), or even a version that incorporates a weapon light (the housing would be permanently mounted but you could still replace internal parts like bulbs and batteries)

We haven't brought this to our lawyers yet, but if it's something people would be interested in, we can develop it.

Yes. Grip plug and a template to cut a window in the grip for the serial number.

I appreciate your "Outside the Box" thinking. Sounds like you are going to need to sit down with a Patent Lawyer as well. Now get working on it!

Technically, an all metal 80% frame would do the trick. That would be interesting...

These are not going to be approved in time. The powers that be know what they are doing. I'm betting the approval comes just days after the cutoff time for us.

But, nobody knows anything for sure at this time? They may, they may not? But at this point everything is pure speculation.

Probably good you didn't get in on the buy, following the thread it looks like it may not make the July deadline.

We were contacted a few months back by a friend of CCF Race Frames. Although they have shut down, I believe they might still have some all metal glock frames available that can be transferred into CA if built up using our compliance kit before transfer (or if you use a manufacturer FFL in CA)

http://www.ccfraceframes.com/home.php
804-622-4277

There's also another company that has metal glock frames in production

Well, I just emailed Chris trying to get a full refund but he said he can't refund the build kits. It looks like we're all going to have some expensive paperweights if GS doesn't deliver in "two weeks".

I wish I knew when placing my order that this was waiting on ATF approval (vs just arrival of the gear). Shame on me I guess.

I think the glockstore played everyone... it had been delayed twice before they came out and admitted they didnít have the determination letter.

I didn't join on this purchase, but did you guys pay in cash or credit card? This would be grounds for a chargeback if it was via CC.

Are you able to legally register an 80%? I would assume the answer is no because its not a firearm...

Now that would be an interesting legal predicament to be in... Registering something that ends up coming out post July 1st. Definitely would not try that myself.

Yeah I don't think its legal to register a gun you haven't built... at least not until July 1st when it becomes mandatory!

Sent them the upper and miscellaneous parts from them that next week as well and the money hit my account today .. I got to thinking I had over 1k into a ccw gun I cant even carry .. I had to jump ship before the refund flood gates open just incase they had the idea to stop taking stuff back

Since there is not going to be any refunds, I figure if it doesn't get here in time I'm just going to embed it in an epoxy block and put it on dosplay. I should have just put the cash on black in LV. DOH!
