25 reviews (the model I, not the version II) but it got great reviews.
I have the same gun but in a weaker spring, low velocity version that could be cocked by a baby, and it is wonderful target gun for the money. Neither the scope nor iron sight is top quality but get the job done. The gun is accurate. (mine takes 13 pounds effort to cock, instead of 30). Obviously mine is very low velocity for targets. This gun is high vel. , perfect for pest control.

Is this a break-action? I'm new to airguns, but it would be nice to teach kids how to shoot with it. Thanks

Length of pull: 14 inches. You might want to put it on a shooting bag or mount a bi-pod somehow for small ones. The rifle is over 8 lbs! 44in total length.

Even a small child can cock the Explorer version (17 pounds of force) and it weighs 4-1/2 pounds. Costs more...

And has an upgraded rear sight. But it's $100.

Nice. These are still in stock and I picked one up and a couple tins of ammo. You can get another 5% off through active junky.

This one is for sale. https://www.fieldsupply.com/umarex-s...ck-refurb.html
Don't know anything about it but it as well as a couple others were listed at the bottom. Sale price is $63, retail is $190. From the ad:

Black. .177 cal. Powerful 1200 FPS. Spring piston. Single shot. Break barrel. Rifled steel barrel. 11mm dovetail grooves. 2 stage adj trigger. Automatic safety. Ambidextrous thumbhole stock. Rubber recoil pad.

The Umarex Surge combines all the basics of a spring-powered single-shot pellet rifle with the looks of a modern day sporting rifle. The Surge has the power needed for small game impact and targeting speed, plus a price that is a good fit with the budgets of recreational shooters. Shoulder the Surge and you'll feel the nicely sculpted ambidextrous cheekpiece and contoured grip and thumbhole of its all-weather synthetic stock. Its 11 mm dovetail rail is ready for most scopes.

This version has a click adjustable target sight (I have one of these guns, I rate it five stars out of five). It is not good for putting a scope on it though. But is super light and super easy to cock. Great for kids (it was designed for school shooting training). Accurate as heck, mine anyway. Nice solid upgraded adjustable peep sight.

20% off coupon works. $84.18 with coupon.

Here is list of all airguns on the discount coupon (I think 213 of them) The Makarov for $59.20 (before the coupon discount) was said by BB Peltier to be the most accurate bb pistol sold nowadays that he's tested.

Got the rifle. Haven't had a chance to buy pellets. Can anyone recommend a good pellet for rat hunting in the backyard 25-30 yards max.

I just got my rifle the other day. ordered some BSA interceptor (7.87 grain hollowpoint) and storm (7.87 grain pointed tip) pellets to go along with it. they both seem to be equally accurate. honestly I think any pellet will be fine for hunting rats with this rifle. it's pretty dang powerful.
