Still could use some prayers
I had originally posted this under, “OFF TOPIC DISCUSSION,” 6-15-18, entitled, “I CAN USE SOME PRAYERS.”
Long story short and without rehashing everything, it looks like now I have a stage 3 but more than likely, after talking with another specialist, stage 4, pretty much inoperable brain tumor. We-My wife of 45 years and my 49 and 44 year old daughters, are still trying to digest the whole thing as we are discussing with numerous specialists, which is the best course of action. All of this has been a whirlwind of events starting about the beginning of June or so-hard to remember with everything happening so fast. Seems as if the diagnosis gets a little worse with each specialist. Anyway, I’m not writing this as a “woe is me” tale but rather, at almost 70 years young, I’ve had a simple but amazing life. As mentioned, I’ve been married to my best friend and soulmate for 45 years, have two amazing daughters, 4 grandchildren and 3 greats! No regrets, I wouldn’t trade one second of my life for anything. I have totally committed myself to knowing that I’m in the Lords hands and He will work in His “Mysterious Ways.” I’m really ok with that. I’m not saying that I’m giving up, on the contrary, I will fight to my last breath but all the while knowing it’s up to Him. Ironically, with my physical self-employment work-building maintenance, taking care or our rental properties, working out at the gym and already dealing with severe, cervical stenosis and a torn rotator cuff and a torn miniscus, I’ve learned how to cope with the pain and stress. Lastly, as the title to my original thread stated, I can use whatever prayers you might want to throw my way. God Bless all of you and hug your loved ones tight! |

I will thank God for providing this ^^^, I will ask him to provide abundant strength, joy and peace to you, your wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren for as long as He is willing.
Thanks for being here John Henry, as small or short a time we might have together. I looked at your first thread and see I replied there. It was a good thread. Respect. |

My prayers go out to you and your family.
"Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven." ~ James 5:14-15

Well, here’s the latest on my “saga.” Seems like the first doc didn’t quite hit the tumor dead center when the first biopsy was performed and they’re not sure if it’s a stage 3 or 4 glioma. So, this coming Tuesday, July3, I’m undergoing another biopsy. I don’t know how my family and a consulting doc were able to arrange it but this biopsy will be performed by one of the top guys in the field.
When I asked why it was so important to know exactly what it is he said insurance (?) and medical protocols “insist” on knowing exactly because if it is stage 4, other avenues and procedures are open to me. Then I asked, “Well, are you saying then that it’s better for 4?” He said no because stage 4 is obviously worse than 3 but they just have to know exactly what they’re dealing with. Yeah, I know, confusing as all get out. I’m lucky to have my daughters and wife attend all these appointments with me! Anyway, it’s all good. I’m just anxious to find out and get started with “mending.” My main concerns are the toll this is taking on my family and I just don’t want to go out a “piece at a time,” bottom line. But, like I stated before, it’s in God’s Hands and I kind of feel like I’m just along for the ride. LOL! Hey, who knows? When they do the MRI Monday, before Tuesday’s procedure, maybe that little bugger will be “gone” after all the prayers being said for me? But I know God will look after me, no matter what. Later. |

Well, it’s Tuesday morning and in about 2 hours I’m “off to see the wizard,” for my second biopsy. You know it’s really kind of funny but every time I post here about my situation, it seems surreal, like I’m having this out of body experience and it’s not really me that I’m writing about.
Anyway, this should be the last time they actually “dig into my melon.” Once they find out for sure if it’s a 3 or 4 then they’ll decide which procedure (s) to use. With any luck nothing will be “scrambled” and I can post in a few days and let you know what happened. God Bless! |

Well, I’m going in for that second biopsy in anout 2 hours. Should be the last time they actually dig into my melon-once they find out exactly what it is I believe they’ll then be using other procedures. This all seems so surreal, like I’m writing about some “3rd” person. Oh well, I’m leaving it up to THE BIG GUY.
God Bless all of you! John Henry |

Well, it’s Wednesday, July 4th and I got back home after the procedure at about 3:30, still in one piece and no additional slurriness or weakness-so far so good. Now we have to wait for the evaluation and possible remedies. Ironically, the head doesn’t feel too bad but my cervical stenosis is now kicking in with some pain. With both locations so close to each other it’s kind of hard to decipher exactly what is hurting. But all in all, I’ve had a good day. Goodnight and God Bless!

Your example to your fellow brothers is amazing. Here I sit, complaining about my job and my first world problems. You are battling cancer and have the faith and strength to encourage others. Impressive. You are in my prayers, sir.

Sending prayers your way and asking God to steadily provide you with the strength and understanding that you have already displayed. Also sending thoughts and prayers to your wife and daughters. Based on your outlook and what you have already mentioned, God is already at work and shining thru you! Your faith and humbleness is inspiring, to say the very least! And just like colossians323 said, "THE SPIRIT IS OVERFLOWING IN YOU, BROTHER!!!
Keep us posted and best of luck with everything! "Everything is possible through God the Father!"

From a medical standpoint there’s really nothing too dramatic to report. I had that 2nd biopsy procedure July 3rd where 6 pieces of that “bugger” were removed for analysis and we’ve scheduled an appointment July 10, for the consultation. I was pretty impressed with the entire procedure, I actually had a team of 3 anesthesiologists all come in and see me before putting me under! The fact that I had no additional physical side effects as compared to the first procedure was also pretty amazing.
To be totally honest, there’s a very small part of me that just wants to run thru a brick wall screaming, “why me Lord, why me!” But then I just settle down, look at my hands and feet-don’t see any expiration dates- and I think, “ok John, it ain’t over, till it’s over and God has all these plans for you so just kick back and enjoy the ride!” I mean, who knows what could be changing in any one of your lives by reading my posts, my other friends and family, watching me go thru this process? The ramifications just could be endless, kind of like looking at the backside of a tapestry-looks all garbled until you turn it over and see the beautiful woven product. I don’t mean to be “waxing all poetic” here but I just gotta believe! I certainly don’t believe that God wants me to give up. He knows how stubborn and what kind of fighter I am and hey, who knows? Maybe a “little miracle,” could just be around the corner?” Anyway, God Bless you all! |

It has to be hard to stay strong when you're tired and worn out. I'm still praying for you daily brother. He'll decide when you're done. Now or later. You keep fighting. BTW. My name is John too.

I'm praying for you John Henry. I hope God has you and your family lifted up and is comforting you all in this difficult time.
I haven't prayed in quite a while as I've been struggling with my faith of late but I know God is using you to reach people, reading your post led me back to prayer. God bless and keep us posted when you are able. |
