Lutherans?
Any other Lutherans here? I see the Calvinists forming up, I know there's gotta be at least a few of us on here too.

Nice to see a few more, I am also in Missouri Synod. Raised Presbyterian and wandered into Charismatic & what I would call "Modern Evangelical" before I was exposed to Lutheran preaching, teaching and reading Luther's Small Catechism as well as some of the other articles and writings in the BoC (it's a work in progress).

My spousal unit and I were Catholic, but baptized all three of our sons Lutheran, because we were married by an Episcopalian. PAX

Baptized Lutheran, or as I call it, Catholic Light.
Haven't been to church outside of weddings/funerals since I was about 8

I'm similar to sd shooter. I was raised in a very legalistic Lutheran Brethren church that pretty much considered anything that was fun to be a sin. I've since been to numerous different churches since but don't associate regularly with any.

I was brought into the Lutheran world through infant water baptism, raised then confirmed as a Lutheran. However in my 20's, I broke away from the Lutheran church on "secondary" issues, when I realized that Lutheranism did not believe in free-will.
I don't ascribe to predestination in that man can not choose to accept or reject Christ's gift of salvation freely. Unlike Lutheranism which believes that a true Christian (that is, a genuine recipient of saving grace) can lose his or her salvation, I totally disagree with that dogma. I believe that one who may claim to have lost one's salvation, was never truly saved to begin with. So, I'm now a non-denominational "bible" reading Christian only. That all being said, I share in the core doctrines of the historic Christian faith and regarding Lutheranism. I just highly disagree with Lutheran "secondary" issues. My best friend is a hard core Lutheran and we have very vigorous, yet friendly debates on the subject of Luther's stance on free-will.

Mother was Presbyterian, father was Danish Lutheran (as in born & brought up in Denmark, etc.), I was baptized Presbyterian, went there almost all the way through high school with some dabbling in UU (barf, religious debating society), now small-c christian, don't go to church but hold to ten commandments and somewhat Puritanical belief structures, for what that's worth in this California madhouse.

Mom is a recovering Italian Catholic and swore her kids would not go through that abuse and guilt. Dad is a German Lutheran. I am baptized Lutheran. I find Lutheran services very refreshing and uplifting. Recently we had a family funeral at the Catholic church. It really put me off. The Catholic church reminds me of the CA. state legislature.

How did it become a habit in here for those who aren't something to post their views on why they aren't something? No one cares about your view. Start your own "why I'm not a..." thread. If you're not Hawaiian don't post in the "I'm Hawaiian" thread. How ignorant and arrogant do you have to be? If you're not Lutheran don't post in the "who is Lutheran" thread.

Currently I am a member of a conservative ELCA synod. We weren't happy about joining a ELCA church as we are former members of a WELS synod church. Our congregation is very conservative and are wonderful people and it's the only Lutheran church close to us. Over the years as I have moved allot i have been a member of every Lutheran synod. I've attended other churches but love the Lutheran way of worship.
