It was already mentioned that they changed their frame to qualify under an already approved design.

Update:
Yesterday I received a call from Dimitri providing detail as to the nature of their delay. Upon checking out additional quality control, they determined that the reference hole was .25 1000's of an inch off, which meant the remaining items related to that hole were also off. Ares made a decision to scrap that inventory and remanufacture. The end result is that the delay will result in about one week delay. A couple of other items: since this was the original group buy and we were the first to place a group order, we will be the first order shipped out. Also, there are people that may be interested in bare frames. Please let me know prior to my taking delivery of the frames if you want bare frames so they may be shipped or delivered to you, otherwise they will be black oxided. Lastly, as to the ATF letter, I will ask that Dimitri include a copy of the letter which will be include with all your shipments based on the preexisting design, should any questions arise. THank you!

I was randomly looking at the new Colt CBQ 1911 and decided on doing another 80% build project. I havent done one in in a few years.
Imagine my surprise when I came across this thread! And i live in San Diego! If anyone wants to give up their place on the original group buy list or want to sell one of their frames I am looking! |

Could you talk to dimitri and see if instead of scrapping if he would sell them for dirt prices? I'm sure it could be of use here for those who are iffy doing the projec themselves. The rail and barrel seat would still need to be cut so I think it'll be good practice. As for myself id probably weld the holes and redrill for a couple 22 1911s

Its probably a reference hole. For those of you who dont know cnc you make a hole in the same location every spot of each piece and the critical holes needed are measured from that spot. Pretty much if we can get these to practice on, the average person won't be able to get it working properly. It would not be worth the hassle to fix yourself but it would be great for those who are going to not be using a mill to do the rails and barrel seat.

There aren't too many 1911 letters out there. Id assume with what was said needed to be done and the most recent letter given for this type of build my .2 cents is the letter given to kto. Don't quote me I'm just speaking logically out of my ***.

Does the black oxide on the frame effect anything? Will it interfere with bluing or melonite coating in the future? Or is it just a different surface coating there to keep the whole thing from rusting in the meantime?

I have sold my two (2) spots to thekid96. As part of the deal I am now posting that he is the sole owner of my two spots. Good luck to all.

Would you guys please quit jumping in and out of the GB? You paid your money. If you want out, just wait until you get it and sell it to somebody else. We don't need people muddying the waters with "I'm out, but XYZ is taking my place". If you want to do that, handle it outside of this thread. And if you absolutely MUST sell your spot, talk to the GB leaders, don't bring it here to post. Every time you post on here, all kinds of people who are waiting for news on the GB get notices. We are ending up with a few real questions, followed by half a dozen posts that aren't relevent. This is the group buy thread. Not the chat about selling your spot because you are worried about some irrational possible problem thread.

an 80% lower for an AR15. I don't know if it would interfere with bluing or melonite coating though. Would be nice to know a location also, but I am in no hurry. I have an AR15 to build also so I will be busy for the next few months with my wallet hating me all the while |
