Default New gamo urban PCP

Just recently got into PCP rifles after shooting my dads air force condor SS. I decided to take the plunge and buy a budget PCP. Ended up with a gamo urban that airgun depot is selling for 299$. So far it has been extremely accurate even over 50 yards. Will update with group pictures soon.

Looks nice. How is the report on the rifle?

It's extremely quiet. It is quieter than my fathers condor SS on Co2

Good to know. Thanks. Give us a range report when you take it out.

I'm not a fan of Gamo at all but will say this is a great looking rifle, looks nice short and lightweight. Bet it has a pretty good barrel as well.

$269.99 for the Urban on Walmart.com. Barrels are said to be Hammer Forged and made by BSA. I currently have a single-shot Benjamin Maximus .22 - it's very accurate but I'm going to be getting a magazine-fed Urban for quick follow-up shots when Hunting/Pesting.

Good deal for one. Better than waiting for the Gauntlet

I considered the Gauntlet but for carrying in the field, it's going to be a long heavy 10lb+ beast depending on what glass one is using. The Urban Is two pounds lighter and nearly five inches shorter.

That Gauntlet is big, I had one of the prototypes in my hands. Too they claim it will have a Ninja regulator that I highly doubt for that price. They lost big time because they advertised price before they realized they will lose money building it.

What's with the 2 flyers? You, gun or pellets? Have you tried other pellets yet? My marauder likes 18gr JSB's.

Those weren't flyers from me. The board has 1000's of holes in it from previous shooting. All 5 shots were practically hole in hole

I've been eyeballing the same Gamo. Anyone recommend a pump to go along with it, or a cost-effective alternative to a pump?

Nice shooting.

A pump is the most cost effective way.

A pump is most cost effective, I think the 90 cu in carbon fiber tanks are a good option too. Definitely not cheap though

A pump is the most wallet-friendly way to go. Benjamin, Hill, TAOUSA, are some names popular on the Airgun forums. Lots of pumps on eBay but I'd stay away from the low, low priced stuff. Google good/best PCP hand pump and read, read, read.

Well if you planned on getting a gamo urban, I would reconsider. Put 20 rounds through it today and well, this happened also the pressure gauge stopped working. I didn't double feed it, the baffles inside were loose and a pellet took it out.

Something to consider when using a pump, having a good filter is important to not only keep crap out but to eliminate moisture going into the gun that can corrode the internals. The hill pump is an excellent pump with a bead type filter.

OP - who did you buy your Urban from? Keep us posted on what happens as to them taking care of the issues. Personally, I don't like the looks of the huge stock LDC. A guy on Gateway to Airguns removed his and did a full shroud over the barrel and it looks 100% better. He said removing the stock LDC was a PITA as Gamo glues/epoxies the thing on.

Air gun depot. I sent them an email with the attached pictures, I will update tomorrow with their response. I'm hoping to get credit and upgrade to either a kral puncher breaker or condor ss

Be careful on the Kral PB. They've had problems with them and I'm not sure if they've got the issues worked out yet.

That sucks. Could you hear the baffles rattling or anything?

Get a marauder, just as accurate and it's quieter.

I always had it on bags so I never really noticed a rattle. Pretty disappointed, the gun is accurate and I wished it had better build quality. Hopefully everything goes well with the return to AGD

The guy on Gateway to Airguns that built/installed one on his rifle is in Puyallup, WA. He told me I would need to send him the barreled action only, not the stock. He has to chuck the barrel in a lathe in order to cut off /remove the stock LDC as it is epoxied on from the Factory.

Says when done the rifle is truly whisper quiet. Cost is $172 plus actual shipping cost back to the customer. I have some pics but have to transfer off my phone then host them before I can post - looks very nice.

Any opinions on what I should get as my next PCP? Heavily considering a marauder in .25 or a talon or condor

Default Urban Shroud Conversion

Here are the Urban Shroud Conversion pics - looks like the guy does nice work. That's how Gamo should've done it instead of that huge thing they went with.

I'm sure the Urban shroud conversion is worth the cost and corresponding decrease in sound levels and increase in the look of the rifle. I'm just trying to make a budget decision as this will hopefully be the last rifle I buy for the immediate future.

Factoring in the shroud conversion to the cost of a Urban along with a couple of overpriced magazines and a decent scope, I'm looking at $750+. For that price, I'd like to end up with a setup that would be able to consistently make 100 yard shots in ideal conditions. I'm leaning heavily towards a Marauder SynRod in .25 as it just seems like it would do what I want.

Is it possible you double loaded the gun that in turn blew the baffles out the end of can?

If your going to dump money into shrouding that thing why not just get a .25 Marauder..probably cost about the same!

I read on GTA where someone did exactly that with their Urban.

Unless you want to hunt or shoot a little further, is there a reason someone would get a .25 over a .22? Serious question.

I went with a .22 marauder because I have neighbors (that have no idea I'm shooting a pellet gun in my yard)

The only reason I always suggest a .25 is the barrel, its accuracy is proven over the .22. If shooting in close quarters I can see the .22 being a more tame choice in needing less of a backstop over the .25/ either are great tunable guns and really can't be beat for the price.

I want something good for 100+ yards, also I hear good things about the .25 barrel.

I'm pretty confident that I didn't double feed. I read that it was easy to do before I got the gun, so I made sure to be careful of it.
That being said, it is still a possibility. If that is the case I doubt AGD will warranty it and I'll be getting it sent out for a shroud.
