Default vz24 Guatemalan

I picked this one up a few months ago. It was the only all matching vz24 Guatemalan I've seen until a member here posted his on another board. Hoping he and anyone else who may have one posts theirs as well.

There were only 4,000 made and a lot less survived. Even less survived matching and in good condition. The correct matching parts are the receiver, barrel, bolt, and stock. Also many parts have the circle Z marking being it was Czech Made.

Great score. A rare rifle in really rare good condition for being in a tropical country, and matching too. I'd be really excited if I got that rifle. Where did you get it?

Thank You. It was Simpson's. Normally I don't check their site due to their prices, but a friend in Germany saw it the day they listed it and I had to have it. It was less than half the price of the Uruguayan vz24 they currently have listed. I would love to have the Uruguayan too but not at $3,600.

I have traveled to Guatemala three times so I'm especially attracted to that rifle beyond its rarity and remarkable condition. The Guatemala national crest

features the Quetzal, the national bird of Guatemala.

It is also on the flag of Guatemala

and the currency of Guatemala is the quetzal.

When I visited Guatemala back in the 1990s the government was fighting a leftist guerilla movement. There were armed soldiers everywhere, usually carrying a version of the Galil AR rifle designated the KEL https://www.forgottenweapons.com/rifles/galil-ar/

Congrats on a nice find. The stock has seen some use but the metal looks to be in good condition. What's it chambered in?

I've only seen three in my lifetime, and yours looks like a safe queen compared to those! Nice find!

Thank you.

There is another forum member who has the only other matching example I have seen. Hoping he posts his as well.

Okay here you go. Old pic's... I should take some new better pic's which show the beauty of this rifle.

That's the one. Is your barrel and butt stock also numbered to match? Is your Handguard and Fore stock numbered on the inside with matching to each other but different production numbers?

Beautiful Rifle.

Beautiful Rifle.
The stock is matching. I've never taken the rifle apart to look at the inner assembly numbers or any hidden barrel number.

If you ever decide to take it apart I'm curious about the assembly numbers.

If stock and bolt are matching I'm sure the barrel is matching as well.

If you do ever take it apart the upper handguard has that damn spring. I found its best to take the action out of the stock and turn it upside. Then using two paint sticks alternate tapping on them with a trim hammer near the spring. Pulling the hand guard off is almost a guaranteed way to crack it.
