Default Accident at Prado range.

I was thinking of trying this place out this weekend and after researching I found this article from a couple days ago. Sounds like 2 were hit on the line due to negligent discharge, anyone hear the whole story?

Apparently I heard 3rd party not confirmed someone was there with a new shooter who got hot brass down her shirt while she was shooting and in the process of freaking out she fired the gun she had into the booth next to her into the guys hip that exited and hit a wall that ricocheted and hit the 2nd guy in the ankle.

Please for anyone that takes new shooters, especially women let them know the potential for hot brass and what to do with the weapon beforehand and maybe a dry run at the bench so they know what to do. Also tell women not to wear low cut or any open collared shirt.

Dang! Always dress for hot brass. Ball caps or hats, fully enclosed shoes, well fitting shirts.

The shooter and owner of the firearm get sued and held liable. They were negligent in entrusting, supervising and handling the weapon.

This story reminds me of the fact that I never took my wife to the range because she was insistent she knew everything about firearms and that she did not need to follow my directions. So we NEVER went.

The range will likely avoid liability because every range I have ever been to: military, police, civilian tells you to only shoot downrange. Military and police have range officers to police weapons safety and civilians sign waivers with detailed instructions.

I gotta say that I have taught alot of new shooters how to shoot, and I hover over them like a hawk because they make alot of mistakes. This story reminds me of why I do that.

^^^exactly. I was a PMI (Primary Marksmanship Instructor) in the Marines and as trained as they were they still did dumb stuff occasionally, especially the reservists doing their annual Requal. I've seen everything from a Sgt Maj shoot the table at the 15 meter line from the 25 meter line to a Capt. muzzle the entire range turning around with finger on the trigger among other craziness.

I see that so often at ranges, I'm surprised more people aren't hurt.

My sister just stays steady, let's it burn, calmly removes it, and takes a photo later.
