Default Reloads won't fit in magazine

Hey Everyone. I'm having a problem with my 45acp. Been making them for years and all of a sudden I can't get more the 3 into any of the magazines for my 1911's. It's like they're too think. I tried some factory ammo and it went in with no problem. I took out my calipers and measured the reloads and everything is below specs. I'm using RCBS progressive reloader, redding dies.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem can be?

Try a 45ACP case gauge. Are they seated to the right depth?

Is this a trick question?

If, and I do mean if, factory, real factory cartridges fit the magazine(s) but your reloads don't fit...Easy, find a magazine that will fit any loads you assemble from time to time.

And if you can't find the proper magazine take some rusted HF pluming tools to said magazine and start swinging away until the reloads do fit.

I have found that printed specs for case over all length is not compatible with magazine length.

Seat your bullets deeper

You need to post a picture of a factory round next to one of your reloads that won't fit. Bullet profile is important too.

OP, you said you've been making them for years. What changed in your last batch? Do you by chance also load for .45LC (.45 Colt) and maybe sized them with the wrong die? It seems odd, if it's been working for years and now it doesn't. You said it's like they are to "think" I'm thinking you meant to thick? or to big in diameter and don't mean to long? or maybe loaded them up with some .45LC bullets?

Check OAL . Factory and your loads
If the cartridges don't lay flat and are too long , they start binding .
Did you start using different bullets [ pills ] ?
Measure them , don't assume what is on box is correct .
This happened to me on the 380 acp .
I have to check every bullet when people give hem to me .

You say they seem to thick. Did you forget to set your crimp die? I did that once and since I barely bell the case, I did not notice right away.

Bullet profile is my guess. I have some 225 grain truncated cone bullets that cause issues with my Sig 220 magazines. Loaded cartridges fit case gage fine, slide in and out without issue, but will not load into magazine as profile of bullet is too wide at end closest to front wall of magazine.

^^^Encountered the same problem in my P220 when switching from round nose to truncated cone bullets.

What bullet are you reloading?
What OAL are you setting to?
Any pics?

Seat the projectile deeper into case.

They must be older magazines. They’re experiencing shrinkage.

If you’ve been reloading for years, was it with the same die?

Maybe it just wore out and won’t hold specs anymore.

Thanks for the replies. There was a handful of bullets that weren't seated all the way down. Ran them through the crimp die again and no more problems. Weird that a few of them didn't get pressed down completely.

not really.

Can you say for certain you ran the press all the way to its stop?? Bet you can't and it don't take much to foul up a load.

That or the bullets are not all the same shape and that allowed some to not seat the same.
