The red and green are the favorites when I give them as gifts.

I have been carrying them for about a year and find them almost perfect for most day to day light use. I was surprised how much I used the plastic ripper. I just happen to loose mine yesterday and went to get one out of my personal stock (and replace it from Amazon) when I noticed the lower prices than what I was expecting. I paid almost $20 for the last green one.

Carried around a Gerber multi-tool when I was on active duty.

When I downshifted into surburban dad/Reserve life, I tried the Leatherman Squirt, and now I'm on the Gerber dime. It has a minimal impact on my activities of daily living, and yet is more than adequate for the overwhelming majority of life's little problems.

In that way, it's somewhat analogous to my transition from full-sized combat pistols to these sub-compact single stacks....

Thanks OP. Will probably pick up a second/spare....

Did you experience this or are you repeating what you saw on the internet?

I agree this tool is not for heavy duty use, but for what I'm going to call everyday use (my use), I never had a significant problem in the year I owned mine.

I wasn’t gentle with the pliers on mine and snapped one side of them off. Cheap metal. If there is stuff online about the pliers it’s probably is not wrong. I wouldn’t personally buy another one.
