Default M&P 2.0 Compact - testing waters

So Iím wondering what a 2.0 compact would fetch on here; approximately someone would pay for. Iím not formally listing as that belongs in another thread. Iím only asking locals what they believe something that rare would fetch here?

Why not sell it for closer to what you paid for it?

Not for 3 of them
What does it get me that a Glock 19 or a Shield doesn't have?

The reality is itís not on roster. It cost me significantly more to get it all squared away and legal here; thatís why Iím trying to reach out.

I saw one on sale in Riverside today for $1200 and I'll assume that's the top of the mark. If I had one to sell that's where I would start. $1600 is way too high imo but it's your gun. I almost bought an m&p 2.0 for $900 last month and missed it. So that your spectrum.

For exactly as much as someone is willing to pay. Some sellers gouge, others don't. It's off roster so it's a sellers market for those items. Capitalism for the win! (can we get a making it rain emoji?)

Personally i wouldn't be willing to pay more then $200 over retail for it but that is just me and it is not high on my list of wants. If your willing to wait a bit some poor soul will come along and pay a premium.

For me, personally, my threshold for $500-$600 off roster gun is $750-$800. Definitely not a 2x guy.

That said, there are definitely people out there willing to pay double the free state price.

I think youíre better off trading for another off roster gun so you can keep cycling thru new (off roster) guns considering youíve already paid the price to get into one.

$1200 is the going rate right now. The supply is low so the price is high, as more enter the market the price will drop a few hundred I'm sure.

Serious question here... What makes off-roster guns so valuable to buyers?

In this case, I think the M&P is a great gun, I prefer it over a Glock to be honest. But I think they're comparable enough. So if I were in the market and had the choice between a G19 for $500 or an M&P 2.0 for even $700+, I would choose to Glock to get the most bang for my buck.

I agree there can be great value in getting a vastly superior gun, or one that fits you well, or has lots of sentimental values, etc... but all off-roster guns I see come on here are listed for big bucks and to me it doesn't make much sense.

Obviously I'm a bad person to ask on what I'd pay, since it isn't much. But I see off-roster stuff listed often for around 2x retail, but I don't see them sell quickly. I'd say if you posted retail+50% you may get some bites.

It's simple supply and demand. Some people only like xxx brand and not yyy brand that's similar. I used to be one of those. I loved M&P's and HATED Glocks....until I shot a gen 4 Glock 19. Now I have plenty of love to go around.

Also, there's no way in hell I'd pay the markup on a gun just because it's off roster. I can't think of a single one that's out there that I'd pay the ridiculous prices that I see.

I would buy a Gen 4 or Gen 5 Glock 17

the prices are more reasonable for what you get
